Only problem with team killing punishments is artillery, some people are dumb enough to run under artillery barrage like lemmings, over and over again and naturally the commander who ordered the barrage gets kicked. This in turn makes commanders to hesitate in using artillery barrages which in turn lead to people complain about him not using it.

Which in turn leads him to make a poorly conceived arty call, and some people are dumb enough to run under artillery barrage like lemmings, over and over again...

the mod had a realy good mutator, when you got tked there would come up a big red text saying "say NP to forgive tk" if the tker had 3 unforgiven teamkills he would be kicked.
This is the best way for RO IMO

That's a great system. I still reflexively type NP when somebody says sorry.

I haven't seen it in a few months, but I did play on an OST server that had that working. I wonder what happened to it.

I don't like this idea at all...how realistic is it if you are firing a machinegun at the enemy and someone runs in front of your fire and you die? There was friendly fire all throughout WWII so keep it in this game!

Go for an (accelerated) Realistic response

Go for an (accelerated) Realistic response

You get courtmarshalled into an unarmed penal role (on your spawn) losing senority etc

So in practise, you call in artillery/ Spawn TK/ throw a grenade slower than your unit's rush...

No matter your motives, You auto suicide 30 seconds later (from guilt), this 30secs gives you time to do something heroic or keep being a jerk with your life

You get auto courtmarshalled and for each kill /you lose commander/ranks etc and you spawn unarmed in a seperate spawn position from the normal one

So killing 3 teammates, means you don't start with a weapon for your next 3 spawns

If you feel heroic you can scavangee a weapon from a corpse and fight the enemy "Enemy at the gates" style

If you feel like being a TK'r you still have to scavange a weapon before you can be a jerk (for 30 secs)

The hard bit for coding this will be to make it hard for a unarmed TKer to find a weapon when they start, so a spawn TK-fest can't restart just by picking up your last lifes dropped weapons

how about your team kills get logged with your steam id and if you go over a certain amount (undisclosed) in a period of time it simply bans you from playing online for a week

No...

Think arty strikes and people walking in there.
Think machine gunners firing down range and people passing by without thinking.
Think about griefers.

That's all, carry on...

Friendly fire happens, it's part of the game. Sure it can be a bit frustrating, but at the end of the day, deal with it. The biggest problem with friendly fire is when an inept commander puts arty right on top of his own position. The problem comes with deliberate TK'ers and people that like to run around like idiots and shoot in spawn. For them, there is a vote kick option, I'd like to see it used more. Arbitrary tk limits on servers oftentimes punish people unjustly. I had a really good player booted once because we had flipped our BA-64. I had got out, he hadn't yet, but since I was still so near to it, somehow he TK'ed me and then got booted.

Yeah, that is a bug in the tk kick system. And there are more like it doesn't reset when a new round starts or even when a new map loads.
THIS needs to be fixed.

[joke]Both regimes (nazi's and communists) didn't have democracy so voting is unrealistic... [/joke]

Seriously though. Even voting has it's problems. For instance people start kick votes because they can't get the weapon they want or if some player doesn't have the "right" skillz.
Map voting ****s as well, even with the option that you can't vote for the same map twice.

What about just giving spawn tk'ers an direct kick from the server ?
Teamkills in the spawnzone should NOT be tolerated. reflective FF or kick should take care of the spawnkilling problem.

Another good solution. First objection would be the oh so often running over people in Barashka, but that just brings me back to the horn idea of the other thread. :)
