Punish for Arty TK's?

First let me say I completely agree that Arty can be abused and there should be a method in place to curtail it. However, when you let your team know that you are dropping arty on an enemy position, and then several of them run in there anyway, I don’t think you should be kicked for excessive TK's! :mad:

I know the Dev's read this forum, and I would like to hear them weigh in on this. The Arty in RO is unparalleled as far as FPS's go, and I think its a shame people do not use it as it was intended to be used.

I agree. I think its okay to have team kill penalities on everything except arty, or maybe limit the amount of team kills it attributes to you.

It seems your TK count can carry over into the next round(s) too. SO if the server TK limit is like 3, and you TK 2 teammates with arty in the first round then 1 teammate with arty in the second round, you get kicked. This has happened to me a couple of times. I can typically just rejoin as squad leader again immediately, so its more of an inconvenience than anything else.

I was playing arad and I was the gruppenfurher and I fought my way to the north village and I was in the radio room by myself with Russians all around. I had constantly been dropping arty on the town to keep it in german hands and I even told people I was dropping arty on the village.

So anyway I have an arty strike coming in when I see a halftrack drive straight into town after I told the team I was doing an arty strike...as soon as they stopped the rounds came in....then another time I was being swarmed by Russians tanks and inf in the same spot so I called an arty strike about 20 feet from the building to stop them from getting to me. I'm the only German that I'm aware of in the town and the arty falls killing some Russians. Then I hear the 2nd set of rounds coming in when I see a German running across the road right where the previous ones landed! The idiot got blasted to pieces and then had the nerve to call me an idiot and a jerk for calling artillery on our own guys. I decided not to apologize.

I think that there should be a 'forgive tk' option. That way if it was the players fault that they got killed and you gave them warning they can forgive you. If you dropped it right on top of them with no prior warning they dont and you still get a tk against your name.

Removing the tk penalty would leave arty open to teamkillers....

Agree this needs looking at if possible

Perhaps add a seperate Server VAR (what they call them in RO?) to set arty tk limit as opposed to general tk.

It's then still up to the server admin to set the policy

There is a TK forgive mutator for the RO Mod that works in ROOST.

Problem is you need to manually install it since it corrupts off the server in ROOST.

I am sure once the SDK someone will fix it for ROOST.
