along with the shoddy feeling engine that was my other concern, players. PR does alright from what I've seen in previous releases but FH2's population is pretty bad and I wouldn't expect that many people to go to PR:V besides PR's fans who are already at a pretty modest amount. It feels as if this should have been put on a newer engine with more longevity although I'm sure one of their reasons for sticking with BF2 is all their expertise with the engine.

i'm sure its gonna be quality but at the end of the day why install a huge aging game for 2-3 good mods with few players when you can play RO, BC2, and ArmA for your fps fix?

This was a couple of days after the 0.9 now im not saying it has as many players as that now BUT there has just been another patch released so....

And please lets not turn this into another why people hate BF2 thread im getting sick and tired or seeing the same comments over and over again, if you dont like it dont play it or its mods.

Hmm thats way more than I remember. No one is really bashing BF2 but since this is a discussion of a BF2 mod you really can't escape discussing BF2's engine. I think I'm gonna give it another go.

RO hardly has any players. Only one server 90% of the time for Americans... you can play on the other 3-4 that might have more than 6 players, but the ping is awful. And that one server is 24/7 Danzig.

And even now, that is pretty empty.

BC2 does not look like a realism based game to me.

Now, if they ported PR to the BC2 engine, that would be interesting. Not sure if it could be modded, doubt it will.

well i understand your point but in comparison -
Ro is a different era and, barring 3rd party content, now a static game.
PR has been around a while but it's still getting new content from the devs.

I presume the PC version to be less realistic on PC, PR players apparentely don't claim BF2 and probably wouldn't entertain BC2 on this premise - be it right or wrong.

And it's far less demanding than arma - and also less annoying: ie it keeps important realistic features but weapon use and movement is less clunky and feels more fluid. You can do what your attempting to do more responsivly, and when 1 shot can take you down this is important.
Don't get me wrong i adore arma but remember as well most public games are coop against questionable AI not plr vs plr - and the few that are tend to be a disorganised mess.
Which brings me to the most important case for PR - as said before, the teamplay and comms in public games are superior to these and other shooters.
(again, thats a presumption for BC2 based on an hour or so with the ps3 version)

Also it's a mod, maybe it's just me but i give more time to a decent mod than retail of the same quality, as way of support I guess.

I could happily play only PR online tbh, so yes it's a big install and somewhat outdated but definately worth it.

Well definitely agree with that.

And yeah RO has barely any players. I dont even own ArmA. And BC2 isnt a realism game. You guys are right. Terrible argument from me.

When I did play PR awhile back the teamwork was truly incredible and something unheard of if any other fps game. I guess its just the extra stuff you have to deal with with BF2 that turned me off. But yeah it's definitely worth giving another go for me since the only other fps I'm interested in now is BC2.

This just came out. Played a few games and it's a lot of fun. Hardly anyone has optics and in general it's just a lot more intense. A lot more spraying of automatic fire in the general direction of the enemy.

This mod is a lot of fun. Those guys from PR are so awesome, they use there "PR" concept as genius because they can convert it with any kind of war as old as it can be, and the game will directly look so realistic.

Dont forget to use PR Mumble (with its crazy 3D localization speech), it's quite necessary to play. And if dont have it you might be kicked on some servers.

And to reply someone earlier : BF3 wont release any SDK, so no mod. I believe built it up with their d*ck. They should have some lessons from the professionnals from Epic Games.

I have to say that i'm not that impressed about Vietnam. Mostly due to the maps, it's impossible as a squad to even try to secure a perimeter, due to the excessive foliage on the maps. There's always a someone sneaking up on you in the bushes. Yes, I know it's Vietnam, and it's supposed to be that way, but I don't like how it plays out. Too much chaos and disorder for my taste.

I'd love to see how this plays in a urban map(perhaps the fighting around the US embassy in Saigon, Battle of Huế) and, I was quite surprised to see that there were no city maps included. Also, give me my damn binoculars back !
