im hoping the gameplay is just as good as its looks. waterworks was another great looking one but the gameplay suffers at times.

personally found waterworks to be quite solid, gameplay-wise... maybe I just didn't fight around the bad spot(s) or something

and this map, wow, looks on par with if not better than waterworks visually, which really is saying a lot

this looks amazing. I especially love the tube lights and the other lights. finally someone gets it right.

Learn something from this map guys, notice that there are no spotlights on the ground from the tubelights, and the tubelights dont have awfully bright coronas that make u go blind.

[17 August 2009, 02:14 - UPDATE 01]

As I said It's still very WIP, I'm still adding a lot of stuff here and there as I feel that the newer area's feel a bit empty and I'm not fully satisfied with the lighting.

We now have the full layout done and it's just a matter of stuffing the place with content and setting the right mood. If we don't get all the content in there when beta day comes we're releasing the map with some dev stuff still in there. The beta is all about gameplay, not looks, and if we don't nail the gameplay then we may have a pretty, but useless map.

Oh on a side note, I'm having trouble with the bloom settings, it seems that there some kind of minimum bloom ? Even when I push my bloom settings way down in Levelinfo the sky still looks like it's fueled by the power of 1000 suns. I'm currently compensating via colorcorrection, but this is hardly ideal...

What have you seen ?
- Warehouse
- Offices (partial)

What do you still need to see ?
- Train station
- Sidestreet with docks
- City streets
- Underground corridors with maintenance stuff, pipes and **** :p

And with that, I'm off to bed.

I see u added corpses from the new map Foundry but they don't seem to go. It seems like you guys have alot of training and experience under your belt but the map is way to "clean" to fit into the killing floor atmosphere. There's no trash in the alley ways, no scuff marks on the walls, no file cabinets open, everything perfectly placed... (except like a table or two tilted on its side) It looks like the place has never been touched before. Sure it looks pretty, but it is not realistic and doesn't set a "killing zombies" mood.

I would also recommend making your own skins for the corpses, a dead foundry worker doesn't quite fit in the office where he got killed. The map just seems weird, and every light being a corona is annoying, it doesn't look professional, it feels like you just found out how to make a corona and just went ballistic with it.

Not trying to be harsh here, it's an awesome map, I just think you need to rethink the "clean" textures and make it look like zombies or something has actually been there.

or maybe a clean place where you yourself create the bloodshed.

Yeah, but there's dead bodies already there with guys stapled to walls and such, I doubt it would look this clean and plus it looks like it has never been used before, just as a workplace; that is what I'm really getting at.

personally if i was zerreth id remove all the gore and continue to focus on making a clean map.

It doesnt need crap and blood caked everywhere it just needs to look "lived in", unless this place was built earlier in the week it does look far too sterile for a warehouse, of course maybe this will be adressed later in development which is why I don't want to crit too much, but at the moment thats the one thing I don't like with what I have seen. The shot in the alleyway highlights this perfectly I feel, wheras the basement is probably more the direction it needs to take, flaking paint, or just some dirt along the bottoms of the walls.

You saw a WIP scene, it has considerably changed, models added and changed, etc...

And tbh, cluttering garbage isn't realistic either, it can even get quite annoying (gameplay wise).

And aside from the high contrast textures in KF which gives the seemingly dirty effect (albeit at the cost of crispiness and your eyes :p ), i don't see a lot of garbage lying around, but we'll look into it. ;)

Decals are also soon to be added.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think its a nice break from seeing all that trash. A clean map sounds good. If it plays good, im all for it. You dont see open cabinets and trash on the floor all the time.

But i agree with editing the foundry workers costumes to fit the map.
