problem with static mesh & light

i have run into a problem i never had this problem before but one side of the static mesh is black even wen i putt a light on that side it stays black the other side works fine. wen i putt ingame my flashlight on it i can see the texture but it looks wierd wen its black wen u not point ur flashlight on it. any solution to this?:(

i got this issue when i made a static mesh that was basically two sided, so there were polys on the inside and out which were joined together (just think of a plane with 2 visible sides), so i deleted the ones on the inside and then the lighting was fine.

I have this problem with manorgrass in my map. Still haven't figured out how to fix it.

Not sure if this helps but I had this issue in Unreal Engine 3 with SM's I created myself and I found that the issue was that the tic (little red cross hairs that every SM has) was in a wall or below the play field. Something with the way it draws shadows. Don't know if this is the same in engine 2.5

just check that is not the case since it is in the middle.

I have the same problem. I`m tired for searching a solution. Maybe a TRIPWIRE MEMBER can give a solution. This is a really unusual problem.

yup i tried everything remake static mesh the moment i putt it in to place it turns black frustrating for now i fixed it with making the area around it darker so you wont notice it, but still i will wait for someone to find a better solution to this issue.
