Problem in solo mode

Just bought the retail game. I'm trying to get used to the game in solo mode and its very slow and inconsistent. Alot of clipping, and pauses. I have a P4 1.8, and N7200 card. I know its a little slow but according to requirements should be fine. Is there a way to adjust setting so gameplay is smoother? Please help if you can.

The problem I see is that your P4 is in the sub 2ghz category. This game is very cpu intensive because of the age of the engine.

Lowest settings in directx8 mode will give you the best performance possible.

BTW, don't say "according to the reqs it should be fine," because they clearly say 2.4ghz is recommended.
