The mod should be free... if it cost money nobody will be playing it after 6 months. Unless the mod has great reviews and it is more polished than HOS.

I would actually like to see this released as a standalone expansion. But I'm guessing that ain't going to happen.

If this turns out to be a mod like the other mods that are going to be available then HAHAHAHA. If you think that I will pay for this when everything else for this game will be free, then you should have made something like Darkest Hour 2 (Diff team I know). The Pacific would be interesting, but Europe is far better for gameplay and I would actually pay for a Darkest Hour 2.

Personal preference is so... oh yes, personal. I would pay for this if it cost money, because Tripwire are usually quite sane when pricing their games. I also really enjoy the idea of the Pacific theater; I'm getting very tired of Europe by now.

Tony, a question which would interest me is, if Rising Storm will be sold, how much percent of the sales would the actual team get and how much TWI?

mod's are free

So, apparently, are apostrophes. :p

Again we are in the semantic wilderness which results in us referring to Rising storm as a 'mexpansion'.

People take 'mod' to mean free and 'expansion' to mean paid for and we are in a situation where we simply can not* say which...

...no matter how much people may stamp their feet and insist that we say.

@ Rumo - Similarly, we can not discuss terms of our agreement with TWI. Nothing unusual there, that is part of pretty much any NDA in the games, media (and most other) industries.

BTW Rumo - what is the link to that realism trolls image? I lost it and it gave me many a chuckle.

*that is CAN not, not 'will not' or 'don't feel like'.

Thanks for your reply. I thought so, that you can not answer it, but I had to ask. :)

RS is basically a re skinned version of Red Orchestra 2.
The mod should be free, but act to keep the price of RO2 at 40 dollars on Steam. So someone new sees 2 games for 40 dollars, rather than 1, they're more likely to buy it. This applied to the original RO, where you have two mods (mare nostrum and darkest hour) and still keeps the game at 10 dollars, rather than at $5, many games that old and are not so popular are at $5 (RO is the best for certain people, but realistically, you can't call it popular, it just has a small very dedicated fan base).

For most people I think the cost isn't a big deal. I'd pay full price if they made a commitment to making a game that worked and was at least sort of like RO gameplay. If it is a reskinned RO2 then even free is not worth the bandwidth.

I don't mind paying for a great DLC - but I do mind paying for a great DLC for a game that is far from fixed - in this case RO2. IMO it's absolutely vital to fix the issues with the game before thinking about selling us a DLC.

I think that RS will bring what DH did, a better version of the original. Let's be honest, DH had this over RO1 :

2 fronts mode
Catching in fire near tank explosion (last version of DH, freaking awesome)
Being hit in the foot = go prone
Revised penetration system for tanks
More realistic tanking in overall
Some maps were way bigger
Mobile respawns (maybe there was some in some custom RO1 maps, dunno)
New and better supression system
Player manned mortars
Way more tanks
1 more faction (Great Britain)
Rocket launchers
Smoke shells for tanks (don't remember having them in Original RO1)
More weapons
Scout vehicles (M8, Puma)
Better tracers (no laser beams :D)

What else?
