The StuG-B will have HE and smoke. I have not decided on the PzIV being included and if I did, it would most likely be stock as too many smoke-firing tanks would be doom on the rendering. This map, like Elnya's next update will feature the StuG-B in its proper support role and should change/enhance the player-team dynamic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the map looks pretty massive. Are you sure that a team of 25 players (or less) well be able to effectively defend that vast network of trenches?

Yep. The map is more narrow than Berezina. The cap zones are limited in their width.
- The first objective is a low ridge with rifle pits and log bunkers.
- The second is a more pronounced trench works on the next ridge. Objectives one and two are slightly off-center for the Germans, one to right-center, two left-center.
- Objective three is the village area. This will be a fairly wide area to allow flanking and vehicle use to cap, not just putting it on infantry to squat in a house or two.
- Obejctive four a farm jump-off point for the final trench line
- Objective five a wooded hill with modest trench/bunker works providing a cover position for assault on the final trench works.
- Objectives six and seven are opening and holding the roads that cross the final trench works. The trench works themselves are not the objective, the securing of the road ways is. If that helps.

I think the Russians will have enough men to cover this, with the important locations being toward the edges, not the whole front. Adding a couple AT guns and two or three tanks will allow the Russian team to maintain some fire while the infantry scrambles back to the line. I have a lot of work to do on this section of the map to tweak spawn positions etc. With a decent view distance, either team can cover most of the front from the opposite flank.

I have been investing all my time in a major face-lift with 'TractorWorks' so this has been shelved for a while. Once 'Elnya' is upgraded with the new vehicles and some minor tweaks there, I will get back to 'Klin'.

If I could get normal screenshots to work again, yes, I would. Right now everything comes out black. AA/AS all that crap is 'off' in every setting possible. So, if I could, I would and have taken dozens of shots to post but they're not coming out. Sorry.

Never use fraps? It makes taking screenshots alot easier and puts them into jpeg format, making uploading quicker.

I use Fraps all the time for video, just prefer not to have it running in the background if I am not using it for video. Obvious option. I'm just stubborn and want my RO to work properly. Trying different drivers.

I too am eagerly awaiting the new improved Tractorworks :D it's possibly my favourite custom map, so I hope nothing has been changed for the worse.

Anyway... back to Klin. If you say it's more narrow than Berezina then I guess the Russians won't be spread as thinly as I originally thought, but then again, there's a fair few tanks which obviously need crew which will take up player slots.

And what are the ZiS trucks for?

Tank quotas will be near same as Elnya has now. Stug-B, PzIIIs and maybe a PzIV vs KV-1B and BTs for the Russians. I always set my tanker roles to be one or two short of 'full' crews so that solo tankers can't ruin everyone's job. Figure 4-6 tankers per side max. The Zis will be the primary infantry transport vehicle. BTs still have carry capacity but in general will still spawn further to the rear of the infantry but there is no reason they can't stop and make some pick-ups like any other map.

TractorWorks got a face lift to be more accurate in footprint. After more careful examination of the source photos supplied by Russ @ fireonthevolga.com, I have only added bsp structures, rooms, options etc. Other texture upgrades/replacements etc. Same basic play, hopefully better and more historically accurate.

Yeh the tank carrying gimic, though nice in principle, is just wasted coding. Im glad TWI saw the sense not to waste their time adding it to all tanks! :rolleyes:

Anyways this is looking hawt! Cant wait!!

And that is bad how? Like it or not, it's a feature we will have on most tanks we do. It's been a challenge due to the base code but in effect, it works as well as it can within the confines we have. It's also a great option for mappers add another layer of team play to their designs. And I fail to see it as a gimmick when it was such a vital component of mechanized units for moving their infantry support. As usual, if you don't like it you don't have to use it but why cheapen it if it adds options to play?

That is one map that isnt played as much as it should be, I love sneaking around with the PTRD and plinking tanks, halftracks, and infantry.

I'd be neat to see a T-60 decked up in winter camo on this map, the little thing seems to get neglected alot of the time. Also, would Slyk mind giving us a preveiw of the Zis-5 truck? I'm interested to see how it looks.

Full of bots, they love the thing and I crashed the game on a screenshot of two BT7s with four bot riders each running down the road together. Pretty cool.

What a great post in this thread. Tank riders were an important element of the battle in Eastern Front, and it's a "wanted" feature by the community. How is this a waste of code?
