no one judges a games graphics off of some low res shaky cam.

Sadly, they do, and if you take a look at what people are saying outside this forum, then it is an unfortunate reality that many think RO2 will have really bad graphics, based purely on having seen bad shakycam photage (and they are spreading that misconception).

We really need some Hi-Def gameplay photage to show people, ASAP :(

I agree totally with that. RO2 needs great fast and neat videos in HD. Most people judge whole game (graphic) on that what they can see on shakecam. In these days most clients don't care about game features but graphic if they don't know game well (here's tip for TWI, not fancy HUD and mobile respawns but good trailers get you the new customers)

Previews should say about interesting parts of a game, like gameplay, mechanics or new features because such elements like graphics, physics, sound or music are polished and released in final version.

Part of preview which is really annoying:

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad oparte zostało na silniku Unreal Engine 3. Tym większe jest moje zdumienie, że gra pod względem wizualnym prezentuje się r

the game has a certain art style which many people might include in the category of "graphics".

this style is marked by realistic scale and environments. this may be hard for people to get used to because they're used to see poop smeared screens owing to overuse of post processing effect. they're used to seeing unnecessary and lazy atmosphere building effects like endless rain and entire worlds draped in smog. that simply isn't congruent with real life, which ro2 devs have gone to great length in replicating.

and most of all, they're used to seeing character models that are either huge(battlefield series prior to the newest) or midget proportions(the entirety of the call of duty series), all carved up with lazy normal maps.

but imo the biggest part of their complaint about graphics is rooted in their lack of appreciation for details. i'm talking about details that people who have more than a high school level introduction to ww2 will immediately notice. so all in all, lack of real interest in ww2, lack of real interest in realistic atmospheric phenomena(or perhaps ignorance of), and lack of interest in anatomical proportions.

thank you.

That website reviewer can shove it!

Anyway though it would be good for you guys to release some HQ game play footage and or a new trailer, because those hand held camera videos im sure do not do the game justice. I have showed at least several friends the videos on HOS and they all tell me the same - "I don't know the graphics look bad". I need to convince them otherwise.
BTW even in the current videos I can see the graphics are great

Maybe people can't spot the difference between actually good graphics with lots of physix etc and the CoD style of graphics which are based on a quite old engine and rely on better textures and "covering up" effects like bloom etc.

It's like Crysis and Crysis 2 really, can't explain with my limited knowledge on this matter but there is just this something that tells you Crusis had better graphics...

One of the few bugs I saw was a rifle sticking straight into the ground after the bot was killed, but then the guy said they were still working on bugs. I think it was an earlier video anyways.

I have faith in TWI and UE3. The graphics and small little bugs will improve. Such a shame that the magazine writer had to judge the game on the alpha build.

Wonder what kind of policy they have with that. Cant understand why they
dont just use some screen capture software instead of camera. :(

But they have maybe some reason for that.

But they have maybe some reason for that.

None of thease vids are TWI's stuff, they are just recoded on the fly at various conventions, by various people, whilst one of the TWI guys gives a guided tour of the game (and they do tons of thease every day at thease conventions).

TWI does use screen-cap software for their own stuff, but to date, they have only done it once, the "Never surrender" trailer, which is the only video they have released (of HoS anyway, obviously they have done trailers for RO and KF aswell).

TWI's reasoning for this is that "we'd rather work on the game, than spend time making videos", and sure, i can see that point of view.

But now it's getting to the point where the lack of any new material is starting to hurt the game's reputation, and besides that, all us fans who would love to go out there and promote this game, have nothing to do it with, so i think it's high time they reconsidder, a propper gameplay video could do this game a world of good right about now! :(

I would have to agree on the lack of gameplay videos hurting the game. The CoD and BF communities right now want, above all else, a clear gameplay Frapped video of the game. The lack of it is starting to turn away some of the members.

I agree with Grobut that a proper gameplay video would do the game a world of good.

Countless examples proof that if a game is good a game is good and played nearly regardless of its visuals and looks. To critisize a game that is not on sale yet, available for journalistic reviews or that has barely reached a beta phase for its poor graphics and even mechanics is simply a weak show.
The first RO stayed for years on recommnded lists of halfway decent gaming magazines despite possible outdated looks for its overall greatness and although being a different genre Max Payne tells a similar story.
So also "journalists" should chill and judge the final result for its merits and possible flaws.

I really love the pax trailer, and Tripwire says that animations was real, so it is good for me that quality. Animations are more important than THE POLYGONZ.
