it is because of sound. that's what the thread is about. what do you have the sound set to in the games option panel?

I have already played with the sound settings and they do not affect the issue (I currently am using minimum channels on low enginge quality.) Changing my soundcard output does affect it, but not resolve it.

i didn't say changing the sound settings would affect the issue. i was just wondering how many channels you have it set to. having the in-game sound set to low is a bad idea. high and 128 channels for me. i like all the extra sounds. helps me stay alive, hearing where everyone is.
adding memory "seemed" to cure the problem i had. (there was a patch around the same time i got the memory, it might have done it, but i doubt it.)

Again the settings do not change anything for me and reducing the quality of samples seems to (since it cuts down on memory usage.) At the moment I can't tell you how many channels I'm using since I'm not at home but playing with it in the past had no effect. It's not that I don't enjoy high quality sounds (I absolutely do as I am a musician) but if there's a chance the high settings cause me latency then I'll avoid it. I just switch back to 48000hz whenever I need to play around in Cubase.

you're confirming my experience with it being a memory problem. how much do you have?

8gb

Other specs:
AMD 6x 3.3ghz
2x ATI 6850
M-Audio 192
~750gb HDD
Win7 64bit

With RO2 running I might use up to 2.5 GB ram.

that's about what i use with win7 64 as well. got 9.5gb free. sure doesn't sound like it's memory related for you. when i only had 4gb and added 8gb more, i thought that might be what cured it for me. i guess not.

This issue also appears to be less prominent in servers that have less players in-game (I think someone mentioned this earlier in the thread, and I'm noticing it to.) For example 20/64 the effect of the stutter is almost gone, but if that server fills up then the stutter becomes more noticeable and much more consistent.

Truly obscene.

i avoid full 64 player servers. haven't been on one yet, that can make the game-play smooth. :(

I sincerely hope this issue can be addressed at some point, since it basically makes the PPSh-41 off limits to me.

My Kingdom for a PPD-40... :( This doesn't happen with the MP-40, possibly because of the low fire rate.
