My guess (although i cant prove it in any way) is that it is the new advanced ballistics introduced that cause lag spike when you shoot a fast fireing weapon. maybe its hard to calculate so many bullets or smth. There was no advanced ballistics before patch and no lag spikes when using mg34, ppsh and avt.

I think that before the patch the ricochets and bullet deflection advanced ballistics mod even caused game crashes.

I get this too. A pause or hang during the first shot that never allows me to compensate for recoil. I did not have this problem before GOTY update.

Radeon HD 4890 1gb
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16ghz
3gb ddr2 800 ram
Auzentech Prelude 7.1

I've tried lowering video settings to no avail.

I got very much lag now. It doesn`t matter which server or map. Loading
doesn`t go fluently now anymore. And yes when shooting a weapon i got also lag. Sometimes i miss my shots by the lag.

I suppose using a rifle is out of the question? ;)

I'm level 0 in the mp-40, level 20 on the ppsh, 50 on both bolt actions (hero) and 0 on everything else (except maybe the SVT?).

And I only use the PPSH in single shot mode because I like the sound.

Does anyone really need anything other than a rifle? :p

Yeah, I use rifles as well but those are fine as always but I like to play support classes since I like to support my teammates though on axis its hard as the MG 34 stutters on the first shot as always. The ppsh screws me over when I pick russian engineer so i can't defend myself when i rush to blow up objects like on red october. I haven't played in a while so I don't know if its fixed yet.

For me, this problem manifested itself after changing the graphics card. I have a new PC with a freshly installed Windows 7 64-bit. As the last component in the new PC I exchanged the graphics card. Specifically the Radeon 7950 instead of Radeon 6950. The drivers I had installed the latest, so in addition to the physical exchange of cards I did not change anything. But after the exchange I noticed problems with up to seconds long lags. Also I can seen stuttering.

Because it seemed that the phenomenon occurs with certain sounds (not just PPSh), I tried the following:
1) disabled the sound output on Radeon
2) set the sound option in the game to default settings (with the original video card was set to max)

After these adjustments, I got rid of lags but still appears mild stuttering. From time to time the game freezes so that the video is frozen, the game does not respond to input but the sound still goes on in the background.

I tried other currently installed games (Shogun 2, Metro 2033, Mafia 2, Deus Ex HR, etc.) and those running without problem.

For your information - I do not use overclocking and using a separate sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro).

In my case the problem was caused by hardware. Because I could return a new video card for full price, I swapped it for another piece (same type and manufacturer). My problem disappeared after replacing.

If you're interested, defect manifested itself so that when I start on a background application for GPU load measurement, then load chart is not continuous, but oscillated between zero and high loads, so it looked like a comb.

For me the ppsh lag only occurs if im playing on 64/64 servers (or just very crowded servers). If i play the game with 8 human players the ppsh doesnt lag.

one of the reasons i avoid 64 player servers. that and the fact that most maps are just way too small for all those people running around.

I play them but i dont use ppsh there. Thats extremely annoying since i mained ppsh pre patch. Im just saying that its probably not a sound problem, just a performance problem with the game.

Yeah, I used the PPSH as engineer on Russian pre-patch but once the servers get packed up it starts to lag post patch. Now if I go german MG i have to use the DP28 which doesn't bother me but confuses the heck out of my teammates.

I hope this thread gets more attention, I would really like if it got fixed. I do enjoy using the PPSH-41.

As an added note, I've always played in 64 players. I'm fairly certain this doesn't occur if I'm in a smaller server, which I prefer not to be.

so, how do we know it's not the 64 player servers fault? probably not, just asking.

Thing is, this didn't happen before GOTY, and I always played on 64 player servers there too.

There were supposed to be performance increases. I don't doubt the problem has to do with those.
