Are you answering my question ? If you do, I dont understand. Can you add more words ?

The turret axes will be controled by keyboard's button only, and "every player can use his keyboard like he want". If you set it as I said, you wont have any problem.

maybe op should have made it more clear. as i understand it, wasd is for turret control, arrows for commanding (forward, left, right, backwards) and the mouse is for firing.

Aha but you still can set a new button for firing mate. I dont even know why do I tell you this, was it so complicated to know ?

Same story for the rest of it, as long as it stays a key binding.

does the game seperate the ctrl keys? if not i see no option for me to conveniently bind them because i won't abandon my default fps-controls i am used to for years just to be able to control a tank.
many unused buttons are bound to my mouse for things like sprinting, cover, fire mode toggle etc.
as i said optional is alright, but forcing people to use the keyboard will definitely drive me away from tanking, which i enjoy very much as it is right now.

bound to sprint. i won't be going into detail how i configure my controls, but many lesser used buttons are bound to my mouse because many games don't recognize their default function.

You seem to hint that you would not have your hand on your mouse with WASD turret control. Why would that not be the case? Just like in RO1, you would have your hand on your mouse.

for what? wasd+arrows+some awkwardly bound fire buttons. maybe i missed something, but what functionality would the mouse offer in that scenario?

i really liked vietcong's default controls: shift for crouch, ctrl for prone. i use them ever since.
if left and right shift/ctrl can be bound seperately, then i would have no problem. the question is "can they?"

Why would you do easier, when you can do it more complicated ?

Did you discover the ability to sprint in FPS with RO2 ? Because it's been a longtime that shift is used for sprint... Try it ! I swear to you it's gonna change your life.
Then you can leave this useless 0 key from the numeric keypad (not so useless if this poll is effective actually).

sprint (0) is bound to one of the thumb-buttons on my mouse. believe me, it's very convenient that way.

there we have the three-hand problem again...

Commanding bots to move should not be an equivalent to moving anyway, so I don't think you should have a dedicated hand for that, imo.

while firing on the move i would have both hands on the keyboard if i understand correctly. if i want to look around i have to switch one hand to the mouse... not very intuitive if you ask me.

Why is that so comlicated?

WASD turret control and Mouse for fire (left maingun, right coaxial MG) simply like it was and like it works in RO:Ost (and like a lot of us still love it ;)).

Than you have your arrow-keys (or your num-pad or what ever you like) for the driver commands.
And how often do you use the driver commands? Drive the tank in position stop it and concentrate your mind for aim and fire your maingun (with WASD). Maybe you have to drive a little bit for- and backwards...

I see really no problem for WASD+Mouse(fire) for the turret and arrow-keys for the driver commands.

And I

In the hills! (of England)
It's a good thing I love pink then. :IS2:

I like being able to fire on the move btw, as a number of tank commanders back in WW2 liked doing too... :p It's not like I can actually hit anything further than 100 - 200 metres away while moving, it just makes thoes close-range flanking shots all the more satisfying.

You even can drive and firing with WASD, too....

Command your driver to drive slowly forward and try to shoot, i have do it in RO:Ost a lot with my friend togehter in one tank.

And it

The Soft Rubbery "Battlefield" Mouse-Control tankers unite!

kleist, it would have helped if you put the word option in the op, i wouldn't have been that opposed to your idea then. my keyboard is worn out from all my attempts to explain why this system would collide with my key/mouse bindings. way to raise my post-count though ;)
