Perhaps the solution is a 30 to 40 second countdown telling a player that they are IN the restricted zone, but they are not able to fire weapons from inside the zone.

This gives them time to get out and encourages a quick exit because they are basically helpless while unable to shoot.

I think server admins should be allowed to turn it off. Maybe have high protection like now. Medium protection which would only gib people shooting enemies in their home spawns. An low with no protection.


At the very least it should be a bit more obvious on your minimap and it shouldn't gib people who were in the area already when the spawn decided to move on top of them.

Exactly.

No need to choose or compromise.

Server side switches would give everyone the chance to play the game like he / she wishes.

I demand following switches and according filters in game browser:

-team balance on / off
-protected area on / off
-restricted area on / off

What I'd like:


  • Message is in RED.
  • Message includes countdown.
  • If you are in the restricted area when it is created (after a point is captured) you get a whole 60 seconds to retreat.
  • Protected zones disappear after your reinforcements hit 0.
I'd be fine with it then.

Then I ll guess you have to spank and finally kill those "cod kiddies" for just doing that.
If the spawn places would be chosen a little bit carefully inside of a building / bunker / camp there would be a fun job for 1 or 2 machine gunners + sniper to keep the said kiddies on a distance.

Server side switches and or bunker style (Insergency) spawn area's seem the best sollution for me. Sudden death while sniping in an area for quite a while is just unacceptable.

I was playing with the bots and decided to send every of my fireteams ten meters back from our spawn so I can rambo the Ivans alone. After I died from a 200-meter headshot, instead of respawning the game was suddenly over.

The reason?

IMO the RAs should be marked so we know where they are. Defenders already there should be allowed to live, and spawn zones should not move forward until all defenders are cleared out of the captured area. Mopping up defenders and securing a captured area is more correct than what we have now, and will slow down some of the nonsensical run-and-gun stuff that we see now. Of course the maps will need to run longer to compensate for it.

I remember reading a mod post about protected areas being bugged, and that players left in a protected area after having lost the cap should NOT be dying. Does anyone else remember this? I have tried searching the forums, and I am coming up short.
