I was won over by the first original KF trailer. I bought the game right after watching it 5 years ago.

If I knew nothing about KF and watched the new trailers now, surely I would have skipped over the game entirely.

It is like C3PO and R2D2 subtle humor VS. Jar Jar Binks over the top silly...

This. So much this.

Also, notice the haters of this thread are all 2012 - 2013. Most probably got it on a steam sale for 2$ or in a humble bundle for 1$

We, the original fans of this game, paid 20$ for what we saw in the trailers, plus 5$ or whatever it was for each dlc until they became ridiculous. Now the game we paid for no longer exists.

So, you're going to discredit someone based on how much they've spent on the game... So you say you bought it at full price... with some DLC... okay...

I bought the game for full price, bought a second copy for an alt account for perk resetting on a 50% off sale, then bought all the DLC full price over the time they were released for my main. This means my opinion is now more valid than yours now in that regard, right?

We, the original fans of this game [...]
How many hours do you have in this game? I mean, surely if you're a "original fan", you can back that up with significant play time, right? I'm just curious over what exactly makes your opinion more valid. I'd love to see a link to your profile, just to make sure you're not inflating the number in order to look better.

I'm not basing this on the playtime, I'm basing it on WHEN you got the game, because WHEN I got it, the game was one thing, and when you got it was another thing.

I paid for a game that no longer exists, you did not.

Still waiting for that hour count to see how much you actually played.

Also, I linked it in this thread already - KFRollBack mod by scary_ghost is a thing that exists. I'm sure you don't care about whitelisting since you're not interested in the current vanilla game so it's perfect for you.

I started playing Killing Floor in 2012, I always liked both the silly and serious elements of the game, I mean I love playing as DAR just as much as playing as DJ Skully, I love shooting shotguns in space and being thrown across the room, yet I also like the aesthetics of a map like Biotics Labs. For Killing Floor 2 I want that same mixture of silly and serious, because that is how I like the game to be. One only solution I can think of to separate those who like the game more serious is to have event zeds locked to their specific event map, Christmas Zeds to Christmas maps, Halloween Zeds to Halloween maps, etc.

This isn't fair to say (before you judge me, I pre-ordered KF...OMG). There's parts to both sides of the argument that are good points. However, the game, essentially, is the same game. The balance has changed a bit and the overall feel of the game has but many of the core gameplay mechanics remain and that's why it's still fun for me. If the atmosphere of the game and being a horror game is the major selling point for you, likely you would have gotten over the game after playing it for a while anyway once you knew what to expect and you were no longer scared or startled or whatever by the game.

If you liked KF for the gameplay, it really is still there. If you liked KF for the atmosphere it's for the most part gone but if you're not playing KF for the gameplay then you would've gotten over it anyway. The change in atmosphere just gives a scapegoat.

I'm not going out of my way to prove a point I did not make. I already said it was about what it was advertised when I bought it, and what it has become now when you bought it rather than the hours sank into it.

I may ask you for your receipts of purchase as you assured that you got the game full price plus all DLC and the extra copy, but I don't go around insulting other people's honor for no reason assuming everyone else is full of BS.

I didn't read the whole thread, but thanks, I didn't know about that, and no, I do not care about whitelisting.

I'm not one of the haters, but to be fair, they could have bought the game and signed up on the forums later. My sign up date is 2011, but pretty sure I've owned it since 2010.

I just hope that TWI are serious when they say that they want to reach out to the fans who have stayed for the longest time.

It was in the PC Gamer article. I'd quote, but I'm lazy.

Oh be quiet. Join date has nothing to do with how you think a game should be presented.

I am also convinced that the people who enjoy the bizarre nonsensical mishmash of content have both the attention span of a goldfish, and the design sense of a chimpanzee.

pretty crazy how you can buy a game and then have it completely altered months down the line whether you like it or not and then not be entitled to a refund

I can almost see the steam coming off how rustled the jimmies are here.

I go for whatever, I play for fun and the game isn't all that scary unless you count for the time you turn and get a fleshpound/patriarch to the face randomly that squishes you in one hit.

The game focuses on the survival aspect more than the horror. The horror is more of an aesthetic addition. Some maps have it and other don't. If TWI can blend the horror with the creepiness of Christmas zeds that would be fantastic and the best compromise. The engine upgrade would really be able to make Christmas zeds creepy as can be.

There's tons of games that undergo this very same thing. It's not like they removed content.
