I have no problems with the suicidal satchel charge. I would like to see some kind of penalty for death though.

In addition, the satchel charge is WAAAAY too effective against armored vehicles. It needs adjusting.

yes it is and IRL, it was

There is definitely something wrong when a satchel exploding 10 meters away takes out an undamaged Panzer IV.

I think I'd die of old age before someone managed to satchel-bomb me on THAT map. :p

Play against me either team and try and take the central heights.

this is one where i just disagree with the community, if there is someone firing a gun at me and i have a satchel you can be damn sure i will pull that satchel and do my best to take that individual down with me..this is a game, i like realism too but not to the point where you start limiting my choices as a player

Welcome to war.

If you really mean what you just said, then it must mean you want realism since this IS war. In real war people didn't ride around on satchel suicide charges. I'm sure a few people blew themselves up during the war, but no where near enough to warrant it being labeled realistic for this game.

I've certainly blow myself up unintentionally plenty of times. But there's no reason not to throw it and at least try to get the hell out of there, right?

what the hell is so bad about satchel charging? the player just kills himself and loses points. He would of killed you anyway if he just layed the satchel around you. Seriously, i dont understand. I love the freedom of taking my own life to get rid of the enemy. Hell, it happens with grenades. I have to admit. The only reason that satchel suicide is bad is because of the satchel explosion radius. they can sprint with a pinned satchel about 13 feet away from your tank and still make it blow up. I dont see what else is wrong. However, clown car satcheling is just bad.

People do suicidal stuff in this game constantly, such as speeding around in tank so their driver can't shoot, or going head to head with a superior tank and not even angling. In that situation your death is just as certain as if you were running around with a live satchel, so why punish only one kind of suicidal player?

If I was the only one left and 3 enemy were about to take the objective, I'd certainly do a suicide run with a satchel, a pistol, a rifle, or anything I had on me. Tactical suicide, gives a change for your team mates to resporn. Their fault for standing to near each other.

And yes, one point mentioned, if you get a point for a kill, you should loose one for a death, no matter how you die.

If you you can do it in real life it should be allowed in the game.

Just play the game.

I play as german zapper 98% of the time, and use the satchel without killing myself, BUT there are some situations (rare ones) in wich you are just doomed, you are already dead, so in that case, I grab my satchel and try to take with me as many Ivans I can, IRL it happend, pretty often? guess not, but who really knows that?, loyalty and fanatism mixed together equals a big boom.

BUT I hate to see some jackasses who just go full frontal and boom, thats just the way they play, thats not the way, its a last resort.

agreed, otherwise it just shouldnt be done, like, spawn, take out the satchel and run for it, that just sucks ass. its a last resort thing

Suicide satcheling is the kind of tactic that only works once unless you're up against some real noobs. The counter-tactic is the same as that for people who try to suicide nade you: Shoot them and get behind something. Bonus points if you drop them near one of their teammates. If you're too far from cover, then you should ask yourself just what you were doing on open ground.

In a tank, you're just as dead as you would have been if the satcheler ran afterward, or used a faust, or went prone next to you with an AT rifle. You should have had more situational awareness and more backup. Too bad, try again.

The best way to dissuade someone from using a "gamey" tactic is to hand their ass to them every time they try it. Since they'll keep doing it over and over again, they're predictable, and therefore much easier to kill. The best tactics in this game are usually the realistic ones--use them to counter the unrealistic tactics, and eventually you'll teach people to play RO the "right" way.

Honestly I only suicide bomb when that is the only way to do it, or the germans are clumping up on the line. Nothing is cooler when your team lays down covering fire while you charge the line.

That and I wished CS:S had suicide bomb as a weapon. Can't carry anything else.

I kill any and all ways possible, if I am surrounded and about to die... I don't see anything wrong with taking as many enemy out with me as I can. DIRKA!!

I don't see why people cry about it so much... I mean C'mon...

People cry because they were owned and owned many times before they decided to cry. like the guy before me said, ask yourself what were you doing so close in the first place. It's like the people who cry about nades. Why were you so close to them in the first place? When you choose a spot, or assault a position be aware of the effective range of nades and satchels. When someone gets close to nade range maybe you should fall back!? If you get killed by a nade or satchel while in thier effective range you have been owned fair and square. nade, satchel, and clowncar death can be attributed to bad situational awareness and bad teamwork.

I don't really care one way or the other, maybe I favor the people crying more. But your quote is a total mute point. If you are defending in close quarters, and someone pulls a satchel out and primes it and runs around the corner right in your face and blows up, then you wern't the one that was too close. If you have to defend a position you have to defend it, sometimes people use suicide satchel rushes to take you out, and you might not even notice him untill he is on you. It has nothing to do about you being to close to him.

satchel, and clowncar death can be attributed to bad situational awareness and bad teamwork.

Suicide satchels (not throwing satchels) and clowncar tactics are unrealistic and abusive of the game engine (especially clowncars). This game is suppose to be more about realism than gameplay, therefore clowncar should be reviewed, but you can't really do anything about satchel suicides.

I have a question. Have you ever been in close quarters with an enemy? have your gun shot out of your hands now you have nades ready and an enemy trying to stick you with bayonet or what ever the situation- do you drop a nade and pray for painless death? Now what is the difference between that and a satchel beside the fact that one makes a bigger boom? Furthermore how exactly would you plan on limiting a player from committing suicide without taking away from the realism of the game- Yes, there is a world full of idiot's out there and some have managed to purchase this game and nothing brings them greater joy than your frustration with their juvenile tactic. So why must this continue when nothing can really be done any way. Save your strengths for a better topic

I need to find some video of the "clown car", I doubt they just 'putted' into battle like the "Joad Family". If I were a driver, certain situations may call for "pedal to the metal" speeds and what not.
