Instead of making a new thread I thought Id necro this one.

I just want to remind TWI that all these level zeros joining suicidal/HoE servers is a MAJOR annoyance especially during the events. On my own server I have to kick like three level zeros EVERY WAVE and if one of them manages to join before I spot them it can ruin the entire wave and get us killed.

The problem is even worse with servers where you have no active admins or votekick option. Even if there is a votekick its not guaranteed that everyone will vote.

So please... if giving us the option to set a min/max level per server is too much, could you at least change the default difficulty in the server browser from "Any Difficulty" to "Normal"? This alone would greatly cut down the amount of newcomers on HoE servers.

Because the way it is now, higher difficulty levels are pretty much unplayable during the events and even after them to some extend if no admin is around, and like I said even with an admin its a major pain in the ***.

I was on HoE ESL the other day, going for the achievement again, after months of trying, but this time with experienced teammates and a tactic.

You would not believe what happened.

Or maybe you would :p

Level 0-2s kept joining our HoE game, either ramboing it or just not keeping up with us, then either RQing immediately or waitng to see if we wipe without their CoDly skills, then RQing when we didn't wipe.

Rinse repeat for the majority of the game.

Fortunately, despite many deaths, we managed to get the achievement.
Which i was happy about.

So i'd say that 4-5 L6 Berserkers are effectively immune to the 1 L0 wipe pandemic.

Personally I enjoy the extra challenge of a noob popping up out of place. It's like extra added realism for the game without the coding:D. You know that if things got sour and a zed/zombie/rage virus scenario happened, somebody would be dead weight. It feels great to go out and save a teammate, battling incredible odds to get them back to the safety(relatively speaking) of the group. Adds to the immersion and makes me feel like I am apart of a team tasked with saving civilians.

Yeah, its pretty uncool. I do remember another thread about this, but I can't for the life of me find where it went... So this will do.

The setting of Normal servers to a the default is a great idea, and I agree that it would cut out a huge amount of noobs from joining.

I'm all for having 0-1 level perks on Hard because I find it easy enough now that I can survive and guide a person. I love trying to help them out, especially when you do get someone who listens. I never played Beginner when I joined, because it was something that I would never lose on, even as level 0, because I have played multiple shooters in my life and so some skills do cross over. I can understand Beginner not being played by most, but anyone who is new to shooters would wipe in a second if they picked Normal. Some sort of tutorial for these players would be great I think, give them an idea of each of the perks, what they are meant to target
zed-wise and how they should eb used in conjunction with a team. These should be siuated on the startup menu, should be solo but not placed under solo, so that it is clearly visible. That way a new player can learnt the tricks of the trade and join onto Beginner-Hard with half a chance. :D

That is just my opinion, what do you guys think about the idea of a tutorial like that? Should be interactive, not video.

The host should be able to set the min/max. Having level 0s in HoE detracts from the fun of the level 6s there.

Arkham.
I just have to bump this thread to vent my frustration for all the lvl 0-3(hell even ****ig lvl 4) joining hell on earth to then proceed to beg for money as they die every goddamn wave and in the end that achievement I wanted for (insert map) and that 2-3 other people wanted goes down the drain. You start over to only have some other lvl 0 retard who never went to class and can't read server rules "perks 5+" comes in.

First you try to calmly explain to him that he is too low level for this setting
A: He says **** YOU I CAN PLAY WHEREVER I WANT
B: No answer

You then proceed to yell
A: LOL U MAD?
B: No Answer

C: I quit and wonder why TWI didn't think of this simple exploit players can do to one another. Furthermore no level capping in servers just promotes low lvl sucking *** even at higher lvls as there seems to always be a lvl 5-6 present in normal-hard games to carry these noobs into higher lvls.

At the moment only 1/5 games that are public contain people of appropriate levels for the difficulty they are playing in.

It's both sad and sickening.

totally... TOTALLY agree with you.

Today i tried to get the Suicidal Archivement for Abusement Park, and seriousl... in every single match 2 or 3 "novice" players just showed up, started to beg for money and when the wave began they of course died and ragequited, leaving me and the other guys to deal with even more zeds, kinda frustrating.

So i really like the suggestion.

Cheers!

Someone's probably already said this, but someone with a minimum amount of time in the game and low level perks (I don't really have an idea of how many hours in game/what perk level cuts it off) would give a warning window then they try to enter a Suicidal/Hell On Earth game telling them something along the lines of "You're attempting to join a game of high difficulty level, and you may have trouble playing or cause difficulty for other players."

I don't think so. Yesterday I tried to do Aperture HARD (and wanted to see whether I'm able to get the archievement) and our team wiped every time (I played only Medic). It's annoying when 4/6 players are dying every round with their lv0 or lv1 perks. And now imagine this in HoE (what happened often, too)..
