I wouldn't really mind much if the game was delayed for another 2 weeks. It would be disappointing, but it's still better than if the game is being recieved as bugged by reviewers which in turn would scare a way a lot of potential players.

Im a pretty big fan of TWI but im also a realist and the current build for this game is extremely far from a polished product they need to make good first impressions. Large performance issues and a great deal of bugs simply wont be fixed in a weeks time. I have no doubt TWI will stick with this game until its finally polished up but its pretty obvious to see that wont happen until well after release.

I say they delay it, open up Beta to all pre-orders, and use everyone as ginea pigs to try to crush the performance bugs and fix scaling + other issues

This TBH.. no reason to make the people whom pre-ordered wait any longer but IMO this game is still a bit too buggy for a 1 week launch date. I haven't had anything too major and I understand there are issues with games.

However, I think a release at this point might do a little too much harm with the impatient & vocal complainer types. Even if they managed to get a patch out to fix the various little bugs in a few days, who knows what new bugs might show up.

Use the pre-orders as a soft release under a delayed beta test and get the game a bit more polished.

In my opinion, the non-game breaking smaller issues & annoyances are plentiful enough that when combined can sour the experience of playing right now.

I am also concerned for the fact that a lot of these issues slid under the radar of TWI's internal Q&A.

All things considered, I have faith that they can pull off some miracle work in the next 8 days.

Game runs good for me except the server browser atm.
If you join by Ip you can add them too favorites.

The game is not badly optimized.
Run everything on high with medium AA, no problems what so ever.

Well there are things like prone that needs to be fixed (glitching, getting stuck).
and a sorry or ill kick you system like in the first game too prevent teamkilling codies causing mayem. :D

I had similiar topic in mind, but my reason was that the devs don't end up having a burnout because of the stress levels. I trust Tripwire can make this game work in 1 week, but imho it isn't worth it if they end up having a burnout.

The problem is that they can't push it forward, BF3 release is too close. I'm afraid TWI have to work 24/7 for next month or two. I hope they'll fix major problem before 13th, and then hotfix other less vital problems within month or two. I'm sure that's the main reason they don't post on forum lately.

I don't think RO2 is competing with BF3, they are both very different games. The one is arcade the other is realism.

Sure there will be people that buy both games, but the majority will spend their money on the game that best fits their preferences concering the gameplay.

Most people that make these pre-order canceled threads are people that either don't want to acknowledge this is a beta or they don't like what Red Orchestra 2 is trying to achieve.

What they should be worried about is the first impressions people get from the game, because it will influence how big the community will be.
The community in combination with the developers is what keeps games alive.

I would postpone it without a doubt IF they let us keep playing the Beta and they keep listening to us (bugs, suggestions, etc.) a fixing things.

It's a quandary isn't it?

On the one hand, you want to play the game ASAP; on the other, you want it to be perfect.

On balance, I think a Christmas release would have made for a much better game, but I still like the fact that a lot of these teething problems are being reported and sorted now.

The bugs are small fries. The game has been poorly optimized and they really need to sit down and think how they are going to fix that, as that's more than just a weeks worth of work.

I honestly think they should delay it :( If they want good sales they need to deliver a good first impression.

I think they should delay for a couple of weeks, but make the beta open to everyone on the 13th, I know this is probably just as good/bad as releasing the game on the 13th but people may have a bit more patience if they know it's still in beta.

Voted 1 month because I don't mind waiting as long as it takes for a unique product.

Has anyone thought that maybe the current state of beta does not represent the state of yet unreleased full game? To implement the same fixes on 2 different software packages IS a time consuming process.

alive.

I know RO2 and BF3 are two different games. Some ppl (like me) pre-ordered both of them. Others wait for BF3 and want to play "something" before it's release. I'm afraid it might be pretty big crowd, and those are the sales that TWI might loose if they push release even more. I just want TWI to sell as much RO2 as possible. If it didn't affect sales I would be ready to wait for RO2 until december, if it would guarante me better game.
