the_Monk, would tickrate limitation cause shots to register, but cause no damage?

Because I have seen that happen pretty frequently to both my targets and my self. Sometimes my screen would flash from max suppression because I got shot in the head, with my guy yelling that I was hit, but I took no damage. I sometimes shot enemies who made the crunch noise but also took no damage.

The most extreme case was when someone bayonet my head 6 times and I took no damage LOL

Since "damage" is just another message/update needing to be sent/received by the server I would suggest yes.

As I've pointed out; our server is currently set with double the default net and tickrate as well as running only a 24-player max so as to make absolutely sure that over-stressed hardware will not be a factor in testing.

If you add me via STEAM we can set up a time when more of my group would be online to help populate/stress the testing.

Yes, please! We are completely unable to reproduce this particular issue in the office. We can't be certain it's actually a problem if we don't have hard evidence of it's existence.

Just hop on a 300 ping server and i guarantee you that you will see this problem :p

EDIT - I notice the problem of bullets disappearing more with the PPSH than any other gun

U.K.
I avoid 64 player servers as I find they're laggy, but I've had it happen on various 48 player servers.

One of the most memorable ones for me was on Spartanovka when as a Soviet, I've shot a German and picked up his MKb42, moved forward to cover and had a German run past me and not see me. Said runner was then shot in the back with about 5 or 6 rounds at 2-3 m away by yours truly while ADS, only to have him turn around and take me out with a single rifle shot.

I ran into it last night as well. I was playing Barracks on the "Old Gits Having Fun" server. Sitting about meter away from a door in the big red middle building (Officers quarters?), had a German run through the door. Put 3 shots from the SVT into his head/chest for him to just turn 90 degrees, aim and shoot me with his rifle.

Had it happen various times with sub machine guns and even bayonets as well.

It's getting to be a bit of a serious problem and turning me off the game.

That and for some reason fraps doesn't like RO2. I'm using xfire at the moment, but my fps fall to 15-19 :s

My cousin finally took a video:

Red Orchestra 2 hit detection problem - YouTube

2 guys shooting at him at the same time :S

Look at the video again. You missed a couple of times, then hit him in the leg and *** 2-3 times and twice in the arm. Then he dropped. I'm willing to bet that one hit to torso would've killed him.

I'm not saying there isn't a hitreg problem but this video isn't showing it. It's when you shoot someone in the chest and there is NO blood and only puff from the wall behind him.

That happens too, but it usually happens to me complete with blood splat and impact on the wall behind them.

Yes!! This happens to me a few times every game I play. It's so damn frustrating. Hopefully this can shed some light on the subject. If this gets fixed or at least concrete evidence that its a server or lag issue that I know to avoid I might start playing more regularly. This crap ruins my fun every time.

Exactly. Word for word. Next one to say, "The hit detection isn't bad, you just missed," or "learn to aim," I would like to shoot in the face.

Yeah, but your shot would likely not register as a hit ... (Sorry, I couldn't resist ;)).

It looks like this guy has a high ping judging by the time it takes for blood splatter to appear. Also the shots are going into legs and arm... I'm sorry to say but we need a better video.

I am having the same issues playing with the lowest ping servers i could find, which means from a minimum of 45 to a maximum of 150 ms.

It happens to me so often i'm turning in some kind of assist-specialist :)

(an "Helping hand" was one of the first achievement i've earned, lol)

Yes. And if you watch, the enemy clearly dies immediately on the first true torso hit. Whether this was coincident with fast bleedout or just instant vital kill would be another question, but I think you're right this isn't a case of hit registration problem, it's just a bunch of non-lethal hits and misses followed by 1 lethal torso shot.

All of this QQ'ing isn't helping people. Grab some friends, join my (modified tickrate) server and lets do something about it.

If it turns out the modified tickrate doesn't help as many people as I think it does well then at least we have more information. If it does, well then I think that helps TWI as well.

I've shot in the back enemies running straight away from me.
Straight away, without any lateral movement.

I saw the blood spill so i'm sure of the hit point: center of the back.
Wonder? They survived. No bandaging.
All i got was an assist when they died, later on.

Now, i guess that when u hit someone at the torso from a distance of 5-10 meters with a Mosin (muzzle velocity 800 mt/sec) he should die not run away like nothing happened.

So what's the issue? Hit detection? Damage system? I don't know but for sure the final result it's way wrong.

The first "hit" after 4-5 misses that go directly into the guy's midsection.

That's what happens when the registration finally kicks in.

There are NO hits before that, he gets his arm and that's what counts for the assist.

You would SEE hit decals in his legs if he did hit the guy.

I'll add my own experience with this issue. On Spartanovka, I was playing Axis and saw a Russian flank us and slip behind our lines, settling in a trench. I left cover and saw him aiming down sights, looking away. As I rarely get any melee kills, I thought I'd give it a shot.

I start running at the guy, and about 6 feet before I reach him, he turns around and sees me. He's got an automatic weapon. He starts firing, and I hit him with the butt of my rifle. And again. And again. On the third time it finally kills him. All the while he was firing at me at point blank range.

Now, it COULD have been that his aiming was terrible, but at that range, it seems unlikely. I mean, it lasted 3-4 seconds, me just smacking him with my rifle. I couldn't believe I didn't die. I didn't even GET HIT.

How many rounds used the G41? 10, right? Now count how many times he shot (11-12), and after that he reloads with a single bullet instead of a full clip. The rifle wasn't empty?
