A request from map makers and i'd say it warrants this forum and is a pretty good one, as server hosts we like to put new content on all the time, That includes the hardwork you've put in.

I request that you tag your maps as so when it comes to version numbers so it makes it easier for us to update..

Kf-Mapname-versionname-status.kfm

An example for one of mine that i'm building would be

Kf-Phantomhallway-v1-beta.kfm This indicates Version 1 and BETA

I agree with this. It was very helpful with the KF1 custom maps knowing how far they were in development when downloading them, and there were plenty of times where I was able to find the finished version of the map by googling the map name and then adding "final" as a keyword because the creator named his releases with tags saying the version.

I even think that this little note should be a sticky.

Just so all of you map makers are aware, the process is painful when you rename your maps. We have to edit the .ini to match your name changes, re-upload the files with the changed map name, then restart the server to apply the changes. It's really frustrating.

Yea...please do this map makers. Hosters I know it can be kind of tedious, but this naming format does avoid a lot of problems.

Scripting could really help ya'll alleviate the tediousness:

put new maps (or whatever) in \newContent\ directory
compress content in \newContent\ to uz2
upload *.uz2 to ftp redirect

...that could all be easily scripted. If I end up doing a powershell script to do this, I'll definitely post it to the forums somewhere.

You can't compress these maps. This isn't KF1.
