I found that because I tend to murder more than fair share of everything when I play this game (usually top 3, often #1, for kills if I'm there for most of the waves) I had about 7.5M dmg when I finally reached 3600 Stalkers, and I would always try to kill the Stalkers first if I saw them. The problem is, if you're actually good at cleaning all the trash, you will be putting out lots of damage, and the number of available stalkers is a fixed thing. So if you overperform on putting out damage, your damage total will outpace your Stalker total.
I also don't like to use off-perk weapons at all. I instead always run a full loadout of on-perk gear. At least Commando is fun to play, though Demolitions is still my favorite (I love blowing up everything).
