I am pretty sure the camera was simply not fast enough to catch every flash.

Exactly. Do you notice you get different flash frequencies depending on the angle of the camera? That's because the shutter speed is changing on the camera, and when it's darker, the shutter is open longer, increasing the chance of getting in the muzzle flash.

But he does holds a point, muzzle flashes do not occur that much in real life, it mostly depends on what kind of weapon, kind of ammo, the condition of the ammo. The muzzle flash appears because of the combustion of gunpowder that remains in the barrel, when it fires the gas in the barrel mixes together with air giving the flash... This does not always happens, when you fire a shot that gives a flash, the barrel is clean, the next shot will give a clean shot...

But RO has muscle flashes on every shot or it will be impossible to spot someone when a shot does not give a muscle flash!

But Bad Company 2 has a very good muzzle flash system, some shots give flashes, some do not:

This is probably true, and all that needs to be said.

In case the TC is not aware, the way a camera works is by taking pictures at very high frequency, that is, say, 24 photographs every second, and then replaying those at the same frequency to make a video. In the same way a flipbook works...

Essentially, the firearm is spitting out rounds at such frequency that it could conceivably be firing rounds when the camera is not taking a picture. Hence you may hear a sound but not see the muzzle flash or even a distinct reaction from each shot.

alright. Here is how we fix problem. EVeryone go to mythbusters forums and state the myth that only every second gunshot causes a muzzle flash. Then the mythbusters will test it with a high speed camera and we will have our definitive answer....:D
