I haven't played RO since the free thing started. Before I play, I'll have to unbind my chat keys to forcebly keep my temper in check.

I just had the most amazing experience on StalingradKessel. Actual teamwork. Not forced, people actually co-operating with eachother. And what's more interesting is they were all new players. Says something about the community who actually brought the game...

Guys, one thing I'm noticing that may have a detrimental effect is clanstacking.

Even if its your server, you make it harder for new people to learn if you wipe the floor with them. And its not fun to be trying to learn a new game, and getting dominated while doing so.

I've noticed a lot of GREAT new players playing, and it would be a shame to lose them because they didnt enjoy playing the game.

Yeah, I agree. I remember a while back when Ostfront first came out a certain veteran player who's really really good was just decimating hordes of n..bs while remaining untouchable. I mean come on they had no chance and I'm sure some of them just gave up. Try and play against people of your same skill level I say or if playing against new players don't clan stack them into oblivion.

I can't really help it if I'm a good shot. And there isn't any real way to tell the difference between the newbies and the veterans.

Yeah, sorry, but there's no real way to tell who's new and who isn't. Maybe if those who are on the free weekend were forced to have something on their names, but they don't.

And to be honest, I don't see any real reason why we should be coddling them to the point of making sure that the good players aren't mopping the floors with them. They're new to the game, and if they expected to come in and be able to play at even a mediocre level of skill, then they picked the wrong game.

Even then, I would think that they would welcome playing against veterans of the game. You don't get better by playing people at your skill level or lower.

Hell, when I first started back in the day (God I hate using that term) I purposely played against the better players so it would force me to get better.

And now I just own everyone.

So it does work! ^_^

What I was talking about was teams mostly composed of members of the same clan fighting against teams of new people.

Using regular pubs against clans (who practice, scrim, etc) is hard enough for regulars, but is overkill to impressionable new players.

Well, I still think that forcing the newcomers to play against tougher opponents isn't a bad thing, but I can see your point, though I've yet to find any clan or group, in it's entirety, stacking one side.

I`ts only common decency, If you can`t behave you mom and dad didnt raise you right.
And I`m sure that 99% of the loudmouths ingame would have anything to say to me or anyone else IRL face to face.
And if they had , I would have to call their parents regarding the behavour of their 11 year old son.

I Voted nice as I always am.
Now your pretty face is going to hell.

I've certainly had days when I felt kind of bad for killing the SAME PERSON (especially if it's an ROPlayer :() fifty billion times in the space of five minutes, but I really can't help it. Sometimes if that happens too much, I'll just get up and move somewhere else to avoid discouraging people.
