dark side = making a xbox game then porting it to PC, not supporting it at all and making no mod tools.

i will go restore an is2 and rape every game develipor ever.

I agree with building your own PC. You can get a good gaming computer for roughly the same price as a console, or even cheaper.

cheapgamingpc.jpg

(That's Australian Dollars, by the way. If you're in the US you won't get shafted as much as I do, and you'll probably be able to get the same parts for $300 or so.)

This is probably the absolute least you can spend on a computer, while still being able to run games stably and smoothly. It will run properly made new release games at Medium quality, and some even higher (Medium on a PC is equal to or a bit better than console graphics). Note that I stress 'properly made': this computer doesn't have the pure grunt to run buggy, poorly-ported games like GTA 4 or Black Ops smoothly.

To upgrade it, stick a Core 2 Quad in there and more RAM if you're running a 64-bit OS. If you have the money, it would be better to look at getting an i7 and a GTX 460, but you should absolutely build it yourself. It keeps the price down heaps to be able to source parts from the internet and then put them together yourself.

Would be nice to see some "lousy PC ports" to the console for once. :)

Really, I don't think the "free-aim" and control sticks would work very well.

They'd probably need to oust free-aim all together for it to be playable on any console. A console verison later on would be nice. The issue as I see it for most games is that games are designed for the consoles foremost, and the PC users are the afterthought who are stuck playing the sloppy seconds.

As long as the game is made for PC, and then modified to fit the consoles later on, I don't see how it would be a problem.

Fun fact: If you check your steam achievements for RO you'll probably find you've never scored a 200 meter kill.

The fact that it's an achievement says that it doesn't happen very often.

Though you'll have to admit, a console version of RO2 would probably blow all other console FPS out of the water.

That's no sure thing, there is a very good reason why we haven't seen a shooter that is even remotely as complex as HoS on the Consoles, and why much simpler shooters are what sells like crazy on thouse platforms, complexity is not their streangth, casual plug and play is.

HoS would either have to be downgraded quite severely to play easilly on a Console, at which point it would fail to stand out or be anything really special, or it would be the most Complex game on them, and pay the ultimate price for having controls and mechanics that are too complex for the input device, and a giant learning curve.. either way, it's not going to blow anything out of any body of liquid.

The two platforms just aren't the same, we all know that the best PC games are games that where designed for the PC from day-1, but the same is absolutely true on the Consoles aswell, the best Console games where also designed to be Consoles games from day-1, and the two just won't mix propperly, you can allways tell when something is a port, and it never lives up to it's full potential on the platform it was ported to, and usually comes off as cumbersome and mediocre.

A HoS port may be possible, but it's not going to be anything too special on the Consoles, and i most certainly woulden't bother to play it on one, it's on the PC it's going to shine and be all that it can be, on the Consoles, it will feel like a PC-port, no matter how well intentioned TWI is, i certainly belive they would do their best with it, but it's never going to recapture what it will be on a PC, and will most likely end up beeing a technical marvel, but not as fun to play at the end of the day, as Console shooters that where tailored to the platform from day-1.

If (and that's a big 'if') TWI decided to port HoS to consoles, PS3 would be the only system that it would work for...why???

Cus you can plug a keyboard and I think a mouse into a PS3. Otherwise you're playing RO on a console controller which means cutting down the possible commands to about 12 buttons and two analog sticks...

It problably woun't be as good and fun on console but as console players can't realy crack games then it would be good for TWI $$$$$

core 2 duo at 1.86 ghz (2 core)
2 gigs of slow (337 mhz?) ddr2
9800gx2 SUPPA GANSTA CLOCKED!!!
1 tera HDD.
550 W psu? 700W mabey. cant remember
vista 7 64 bit

runs anything and everything on at least medium.

also, if you went with a AMD system....lower end phenom 2's and athlons it might be a little cheaper. AMD ahs a 6 core for under 300 bucks! but im kinda a AMD fan so...

but with a AM3 mobo you can run basicly any CPU, while intel you would have to change the mobo when you upgraded to an i7...... means more money!

keep HOS PC only. it would bring back the people who have been brain washed by the xbox. i own a xbox, and it was fun for a while, not its jsut a $450 peice of plastic.

My main reason for hoping RO2 doesn't go console is completely selfish. I'm worried once TWI starts making gobs of money on console versions, they'll be tempted to take focus away on PC game development.

It'll be great for TWI bottom line, but might not be so great for the PC gaming community. TWI is a business, and the main business of a business is business. Hopefully, they don't go down that slippery slope like many other developers.

That's what the marketing said, but it's BS, don't you belive it!

Yes you can plug in a KB and mouse, and aslong as the game supports it, you can also play with them, but it's not like you think, it works NOTHING like it does on a PC, it's bloody horrible! The mouse control is so bad, that it's downright unplayable, and it has no accuracy at all, it does not support micro movements so it's movement is inconsistant, you need to flail the mouse around on your desk to make it move as intended, but then you'll either look around too quickly or too slow depending on your sensitivity settings, and no amount of tweaking can make up for the lack of micro-movement support..

The reason everyone still uses a Gamepad on that platform is not because they are too lazy to plug in a KB and Mouse, it's because the gamepad works, and is actually both more accurate and easier to use, the mouse emulation is that bad!

The gamepad is what HoS would be played with on the Consoles, with it's meager 12 buttons and all, that's just the reality of it.

I hope that all of RO2's functionality is streamlined enough to be able to fit all in a gamepad. Of course, I'm not gonna play it with one, because to me, FPS + gamepad = heresy.

But what I mean with this, is that I'd like as much contextual control as possible, because having to bind a new key for every different action is just wrong. The reason I can't stand the simulators, is because you need 3 keyboards to be able to use all of their functions properly.

This is my only worry about a port to consoles. However, so long as this doesn't come true, all power to them.

I think that the game should come out for Ps3 too, beecause my computer is slow and i know at least 5 friends with ps3s who i know would buy it

I spent $600 on my Playstation 3 back in 2007, and between then and now I've spent less on my PC which is still substantially more powerful than my Playstation 3.

As long as you have the hardware to support it, this card will blast HoS. Add in a cheapo PCI-E motherboard and a decent powersupply, and as long as you've got 2 gigs of RAM and a Core 2 Duo, HoS will be no problem for you.

Take my word for it, a console version of HoS would suck, whether they made it or not.

You could make the bumpers be like "2nd" and "3rd" buttons. If you held down R1 and pressed X, it would do something different than just pressing X.

:p

well what controls do we really need for hos? ads/change fire mode/change weapon x2/use/change stance x2/voice menu and you've only used 8 :p

you could probably merge bayonet with change fire mode, as I don't remember any of the weapons mounting them having alt-fire modes

Well thank you for enlightening me:). I should've known Sony wouldn't bother making a decent mouse and keyboard
