Player Name Characters

My suggestion is that we get more characters for the player name. Especially clan members have often problems with it, because they have to write the name of the clan AND their own player name and it doesnt fit there.
So I wish more place for the player name.
But to write sth positive I find it really good that we can use european characters like

Can't say I ever had problems with that, and overly long names consiting of abbreviations and numbers anyway aren't pleasing to my eyes, but if there are people who need them, why not?
I can see that they are important for clans so if it can be changed, change it.

yes...it is VERY annoying if you need only 1 or 2 characters more but there is no more place
i use often name extensions to my default name xmatadorx....extension where "RO" ist contained like pROp

why not just drop the two x'? They look retarded anyway and I guess you don#t want them to be pronouced, do you, ksmatadorks?

I can't see this being difficult to implement. But their does have to be a limit. In some previous games I have played with no character limit in names, you get people who will max out the whole space of the screen with practically a whole sentence for a name. I see no problem in extending it by say 5 characters or possibly 10 max (which is a lot), but definitely no more than that.

I find that if you use the console command setname name, where name is the name you want it fits in more characters. I'm not sure though.

also, there is a differance in the numbers of characters you can put in depending on the menu you set it in.

When you start RO and set you name in your main menu, youre pretty limited in what you can put in there.

When you connect to a server though and hit ESC, you can change your name at the top middle of your screen. You can fit in more characters this way compared to when youre doing it in the main menu..

i know such games too..it is also annoying. a limit must exist, but the limit at the moment ist too low

I see a lot names that consist of various amount of ~ -characters. Is that some kind of stupid joke or are they using some sort of special character set I don't have? Cyrillic maybe, I see those names especially much at Russian servers?

How about no, it is already to hard to decipher what the hell your name is when I am trying to tell you not to go through a doorway or watch out for the nade that just fell out of my belt. People should just have normal names nothing is more annoying than having to call out to turdsmacker to get him to give you some ammo.

Allowing 2 or perhabs 3 more letters is ok, but no more than that, it should just work so clans can have a tag and a reasonable name, anything more than that, and you need to find a name that people can actually call out over VOIP if they need to.

but there are many examples where the name doesn't fit there even WITHOUT <<><<()() or sth....
