I tried RO for the first time today ..after I saw some video about ro2 ..I was kinda bored and got it cheap on steam .. assumed it would be some dated and buggridden bargain bin crap that would bore me in 2 minutes ..
.. but now i have played it for 3 hours , and think its a great game ,and kinda fun ..
.. and it really dont look that dated for being from 2006 .. I have seen alot worse.. from this year ..

I was once one of those waiting, until a dear friend of mine bought RO for me =). I'd hate to see people do the same mistake I did and not get on the RO1 wagon asap, it's an amazing game .

Would be even more fun to try out some roladder action =).

Tank combat in DH is bull**** because most mappers give the germans heavy tanks and the americans only have there crappy shermans. i'am wondering if i can kill two shermans with the tiger if they stay in a line

Unless of course you can fool yourself in to thinking it's the result of some elite panzer division style tactical ability, like the guys who played the bent versions of orel seemed to do.

You can't blame the guys who play the game,its the tank code that was at fault,but that will be fixed soon,and anybody who does think that they're part of an elite panzer division will be in for a shock,because the ppl who always play allies will have a better chance of winning through better tactics and a more balanced tank code.
Who knows i might even try it myself,for a while anyway, if i can get one of these :IS2:, that would put the wind up their Panthers and Tigers.

Because every server for the past 3 years or so of Ostfront has either been Danzig 24/7 or a tank map. That and the fact that DH is very well done. Were you getting at something else?

Not exactly true. 3 years is a long time ago. Think about it: three years ago is 2007. We were still getting free content updates and patches in 2007. There were quite a few servers doing very well in 2007.

And today, as often as not, TWB's servers are cranking hard. Mixed stock maps. Same can be said for 50pc at least a couple of nights a week.

Personally I get sick of people thinking RO is a dead game, or all that's out there is Danzig 24/7. That's simply not the case.

I've noticed quite an influx of new players, too. Once the server gets rockin', seems a lot of new players (like Pvt_Who? ) will join. Some I see from the Danzig 24/7 server so I assume they're looking for something a little different. Other new RO players stay and learn. Some rage quit after dieing a few times.

It is refreshing to see the new faces.

JUST TO CLARIFY FOLKS...by 'new' he means I only bought the game the day it came out retail....I didn't play during the glory days of the mod. And being the father of two little girls, it's hard to accrue 1573 hours of playing time per year. So in that sense, yes I am a complete noob.

Depends if one's idea of enjoyment is playing a huge *** tank map where you'll drive 10mins around to spot something important, then 3\4 of the time you'll get shot from behind by blind friendly tankers, and the 1\4 by enemy tank that was parked within 200 yards from your spawn but no-one seems to notice it until it kills half of the team from its ambush location. Sure it's somewhat immersive and once in a while having a 'proper' gunnery duel with someone is quite interesting experience but since you're taking friendly shells frequently up your arse it rarely happens

IMHO both RO and DH shines the most on combined arms maps with only few tanks around.

Ok fine 2 years. I'm talking about NA servers remember. The populated TWB servers are generally the EU ones. I actually just took a look right now and the only populated server under 100 ping is guess what, the Danzig 24/7 server.

Unless you're playing on euro servers or enjoy playing Danzig everyday all day for 2 years, then yes, stock RO is essentially dead in North America.

(if any new guys read this and get scared off remember you still have Darkest Hour mod which is not at all a bad alternative)

But if now is the only time one gets to play, well then I guess Danzig 24/7 is it. Doesn't mean RO is dead for me, though.

Its 10pm EST. Only two populated NA servers, one is Danzig 24/7, the other is the tank server. =OF= has 3 people in it. [50pc.] has 0.
