Come on, please, there is it again; Classic: the mode for the players who think they are better, and all other modes: arcade.

I like to play the mode that I like, for my personal reasons. I am so confident in playing it that I do not need to tell others how much more I like it, or that they are probably just easily frustrated. I don't know why, but that attitude can be read in this forum from many classic players, and I simply don't like that.

I for my part rarely play classic because I absolutely don't like the speed. I know how fast I could run with a MG3 (successor of the MG42). Even upstairs. And even through the woods.

And regarding the stated "fact" that classic is harder: that again is your personal opinion. Others may see it differently. I played classic sometimes because after a long day at work for me it was EASIER to play. Because it is slower, I did not need to be fully concentrated all the time and could rest my tired reflexes. And I still managed to get above average scores.

I guess Piscator is German (I may be wrong...) so I think English is not his first language. It isn't mine either but then again I do not go around quite literally berating others for playing a game mode that I dislike...and then wonder why I am termed elitist. It is incredulous to the point of being stupid.

I am willing to chalk that attitude up to a poor grasp of English (maybe he really is a nice guy who is unaware of how snobbish he sounds)...otherwise I'd have to chalk it up to him just being a...well, let me stop right there.

We should leave him to his ramblings (comparing playing classic mode to reading Nietzsche while the rest of us "read Mickey mouse comics") and go back to our "arcade" mode. Its better for everyone...

Being a German myself I guess I understood what he really meant. I also think that he is a nice guy and he used this Nietzsche/Mickey Mouse comparison as figure of speech, I would hardly have bothered to reply if I thougt he was really meaning it.

I do support his call to give classic a try, even if it is not my preferred mode. I can see myself playing it more often if the sprinting speed was faster. And perhaps when the troop transports become available we don't need the spawn on SL any more, right now I like to have it.

There is no really challenge mode in RO... not realism and not classic is...

There are some differents between both modes, but that

Squad spawning was derided even by the Battlefield: Bad Company community when it was implemented.

I don't understand why anyone would want it in RO, it's way too videogamey and doesn't fit in at all.

Have any of you guys step back and read what a couple of you are posting about a VIDEO GAME...... At first it was comically, but after 5 pages of "I'm a Elite Player because I play "Classic Mode"in a VIDEO GAME, or "You not good enough to play Classic, so you have to play CoD's little brother Realism Mode"...............I mean REALLY..........

This thread was started by the OP stating what he thought was good about the Classic game style vs. Realism. And a few other of us posting information on our Classic servers for anybody who is interested. But by page two, a couple of people start arguing like little sissy boys over a freaking VIDEO GAME.

So by page 3, anybody who might have been interested in playing Classic mode or looking for server information running Classic mode is completely turned off............:eek::eek::eek:

So I might get a forum infaction or banned for this post, but for TWI to let a couple of people high-jack a thread and turn it into a pile of crap, childist name calling section is stupid.......

CLOWNS (RO2, RS, CUSTOMS) HEROES SERVER is a 50 player classic server and it covers everything that is out there for every iteration all on one server.

So come and enjoy it. It's out there for the community and is a US East Coast server.

I can understand the arguments that "classic" gamers have about the servers not filling up. I try to play on them myself, even if no one else is on, but when it comes to video games that I like, they have one foot in the grave.

RO was a niche market game just like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon was. Those days are gone unfortunately. Even though GR came out before CoD, it still followed Unreal Tournament and Quake.

R6 defined the Tac-Sim genre, but that genre has been holding on by a thread for years. Sure, OFP/ArmA/ArmA2 have held on to that thread, once could say it is near breaking. With RO it received a shot in the arm, but was it enough? No.

Reading everyone's arguments, I have come to the conclusion that RO2 is similar to GR in that RSE was wanting to attract more customers to it's games. The achieved that honestly, but after that, some could say that GR (and R6) went downhill from there. RSE still wanted to attract more gamers (even though they originally made "games that gamers wanted to play" as they often stated) and made major changes to the franchise.

Not many people liked said changes and it really upset people when GR2 for PC was shelved.

Fast forward several years, someone started a new game, one that would forward, and help keep alive the genre. Trying to find funding for said game was difficult and publishers all wanted to know, how would it compete with Call of Duty. The thing is, it wasn't being designed as a CoD fighter so no funding was forthcoming (TWI employees may know who I am talking about) and work on the game continued as an indie studio.

All of a sudden, a new way to fund games came about and then an upstart studio ran a campaign on just an idea to secure funding to prove to investors that people wanted such a game. They got the money in spades. Then the previous studio, who had tried so hard to get funding in the past decided to try sourcefunding (actually it had been on the front burner some time before the other studio started theirs, but were quicker out of the gate) and had to push it back to after E3 for not wanting to get lost in the hysteria that is E3.

Said support wasn't very forthcoming from the people that still played GR or the ArmA series or this franchise even though they has something to show. Honestly, while much of what was first started in said game is now in games, there are somethings which are not, shows that these games are tied together under one umbrella of the Tac-Sim genre.

Classic mode shows that TWI wants to keep the gamers it has unlike other companies who toss them out in search of other customers, you know who I am talking about, flavor of the month gamers. If not many people want to play classic mode, fine. we can have fun amongst ourselves and let them move on once they find a new flavor to savor as classic mode is the one thread that will keep the game alive.

Ok guys, I really did not intend to step on anyone's foot and I know I can be easily misunderstood because I often make my point in figurative speech and by exaggerating things a bit to make a strong point. I can enjoy a Mickey Mouse comic and there is nothing wrong with that. No need to make a drama out of it, really I am cool with whatever you prefer.

I never said I was the Elite that is others who bring this up and I got fed up. I tried to state my real intentions several times saying that the whole purpose of this thread is to show other players that there is a mode that plays differently to Realism for those who want to give it a try. If you are happy to play Realism mode then I am happy for you.

So we should all just go back to the game and settle personal feudes on the battlefield.

So sorry again and carry on please.:)

More elitist drivel.......if classic was so good, you wouldnt be having to hawk it at every opportunity to get players

My #1 pet peeve in the entire world is when people make the argument that popularity directly correlates to quality.

This would mean that the following are indisputable facts :
MacDonald's is the finest cuisine on Earth.
Gangnam Style is the greatest song ever.
Call of Duty is better than Red Orchestra.
Toyota engineers the highest quality cars on Earth.
Macs are better machines than hand built PCs.
Bud Light is the best beer in the world.

I can go on all day.

- no enemy loadouts (I really hate when Russians start with Mkb/MG-34 or Germans with PPsh/SVT only)

This never fails to amuse me.

Classic players always go on about how Classic is more historically authentic, yet they absolutely despise this feature. I mean Jesus, this never happened right? Surely it would wrong to utilize enemy weaponry?

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=99382&start=15

Now that most servers run the "only heroes spawn with enemy weapons" setting, it gets rid of seeing half the Russian team running around with MKbs. Why do Classic players moan about this so much?

And how much images you will find with soldiers holding their origin weapons? :D

People who want to shoot with a enemy weapon have to capture it from the battlefield, and try to survive as long as possible with that weapon. Or if they want to play with the MG-34 they have to join the Wehrmacht and not the Red Army.

Or there are some maps where player can start with enemy weapons. e.g. PPsh41 for German Storm. Like it was in RO:Ost Pariser Platz. But only for single classes on single maps. Not as a standard weapon for a class all the time on every map.

I reposted this because some still don't understand what the OP was about......It wasn't intented for players to piss and moan about other players who play a certian gametype....... Stupid Is, As Stupid Does....
That little saying applies to most of the post in this thread.......

This is a good point I think. Why do you have to spawn with an enemy weapon when you can simply capture one in game?

I find this to be the most realistic way to implement in game, and best way for gameplay too. Oh, we already have this features. :]

When we still had a MoH:pA server up back in the days, there was a phenomenom we called "the curse of the tommy". The japs usually died in a heartbeat, when they picked up tommy guns from fallen US soldiers. Most of the times you were killed the moment you exposed yourself trying to pick up the dang gun. :D
Happens a lot of times in RS for me too.

Think about it this way. A hero is supposed to represent a soldier who has been in the field for a long time, hence the tattered and bloody uniform. You are not the soldier, the avatar is. Take a map like Red October factory for instance, set near the very end of the battle. Its safe to assume that the remnants of the sixth army had access to all sorts of weapons and would have definitely fielded them. You avatar, your character or whatever depending on their level or "time spent on the battlefield" should be entitled to use whatever weapon he can get his hands on, even if its an enemy weapon.

Thats the way I've always seen it.

RO2, regardless of the mode you play, is very fast paced. You will die over and over again and lose weapons over and over again. You pick up an enemy weapon and I can guarantee you will lose it in the next minute or two. Its not like you're playing a game where you have one continuous life. Assume every time you die you're playing as a completely different "soldier".

Then why shouldn't you be allowed to spawn with an enemy weapon?

RO2 isn't a realistic game. If people in WW2 died at the same rate players die in RO2 the war would have ended a lot quicker...
