Pipe bomb spam

I've seen a vid where lots of high level demos put tons of pipe bomb in one place and insta killed the pat. It seems like there's no limit on how many you can plant them on the ground. Shouldn't this be fixed?

With high level demo perk ists possible to put more !

And some server can change that limit !

Try change server !

Like I've read on another thread, it would be nice if Patty avoided-destroyed pipebombs (when possible)

But the worst thing in these days is grenadelauncher spam.

"Mind of a demoman (or almost any other player with grenadelauncher)"
A crawler? Shoot it.
A mob of clots being flamed by a firebug? Shoot it.
A scrake being gibbed by AA12? Shoot it.
A Husk being knifed by a firebug? Shoot it.


And the funny thing is that they never seem to run out of ammo! :(

Patriarchs alone should be smart enough to either shoot or avoid pipe bombs. I think it'd be hilarious to watch a Patty gank a demo man with his own PB just as he puts it down.

I think it would be hilarious if TWI sneakily gave the Patriarch a Scrambler that automatically detonated all Pipe Bombs. Because seriously the gimmick of spamming pipes needs to be completely stopped, not limited.

According to my brother... that actually happened Nenjin. If he's to be believed, he was Rocketed by the Pat and killed just as he was planting a Pipe Bomb and for some reason it bypassed the 0% FF and killed 2 nearby teammates too. Of course... take that with a pinch of salt.

So true. I'm sick of people who think that just cuz they have a grenade launcher that that entitles them to stop using tact.

Leave us the fun until they totally nerf the nadelaunchers.

I love to shoot at everything, and fire all 6 rounds into a scrake so that when it rages at someone other than me they will live :p.

How about a hard cap to how many pipe bombs a player can drop? I can understand one player dropping a handful of pipe bombs, but it's actually bothersome when several players take the perk (or just have the money) and spam pipe bombs.

Maybe, it would be a good idea to limit certain weapons to specific perks.

Simply make them remote detonated.
That way, once you press the button, they all blow up at once so it actually doesn't matter if you spam them.

Should have a Quick Detonate button, pulls out a detonator, presses it, and shoves it back in your back pocket, like the self heal.

Haha, for some reason your quote makes me think of the old Goldeneye "remote mines" vs. "proximity mines" debate. I hated proximity mines, so I'll agree with you and go for some remote mines.

Have you tried playing as a Zerker with that craptastic smoke spam going off? A Zerker is gimped enough without the smoke obscuring things, preventing him from hitting things before they hit him.

Blasting Gorefasts with nades is an absolute waste anyway, BTW, as it takes two to kill one...one just makes them go into the 'Stun' animation that they can still attack you from if you venture too close. And in the smoke, it's easy for you to be that close and not know it...

This too. A single pipebomb or a salvo of 6 nades WILL NOT kill a Scrake. The pipe bomb will stun, yes, but it'll come out of the stun (Guarded from fire by the massive smokescreen) enraged. And the 6 nades? It'll take just enough damage to rage from it...

A Demoman on 6-player hard cannot kill a Scrake with nades/pipebombs until he's Level 4+. And even then, it's not ammo-efficient...

Well they shouldn't put the cap to be less than 8 pipebombs per player, because otherwise what's the real use of being able to carry 8 pipebombs at level 6 demo? Also, they should make them remote detonated. But either way, even if you limit it to 5 per player, you can still totally rape the patty....add in an AA12 and then 5 players with 4 pipebombs in 1 spot + 2 from the support guy, and you've still got 22 pipebombs in 1 spot. :p

I think it is valid to kill the patriarch with pipe bombs because:

1) It is really funny to lure him to a part of the map with the bombs. It is not that easy to lure him to the right place. Sometimes it requires locking some doors, sometimes it takes making people look for him and then run for it...

2) It requires some teamwork to be done, people using their money to buy pipe bombs, put them in the right place before the trader countdown ends.

3) It fails many times. Sometimes the number of bombs is not enough, sometimes the pat does not get all the damaged and survives, sometimes he just lauch the rocket laucher at someone in the wrong place and the explosion detonates all the pipe bombs. When it fails, all the team must quickly of a second plan.

4) It is really fun to be done. I think those who want to kill the pat at another style will do it just for the fun. If someone does not like to kill the pat using pipe bombs, then he/she just wont do it. This game is all about style, some players are all proud to be the better killers, some players want to be smart and lock doors, some players love to boss other players around, other players love to heal and help their companions, all of them are rewarded for being themselves.

5) Killing the pat is never easy, it requires luck, right circunstances and people being at the right place and the right time. There was a time when my team was placing pipe bombs at pyramid map to lure the pat. Unfortunatly most team members was near the bombs when he appeared, and the pat just launch a rocket at us exploding the bombs and everyone.
