If you have played RO2, surely you have noticed the incredibly high pings people have been getting, even on servers listed at low pings in the server browser.

I personally have been sticking to the same server that is listed at 50-70 ping in the server browser, and gets around 200-250 ping when in the game.

This creates a massive problem for the longevity of this game.

In other games, if I cant find a server under 100 ping due to playing in off hours, or for whatever reason, I can get on one up to 150 ping and expect to play decently well. In RO2, I cant do that, because that server that displays at 150 ping will end up giving me between 250-320 ping which is unplayable.

This means that people playing at off hours for their region end up with unplayable pings and just stop playing. It also means that people end up sticking to one or two servers instead of just finding one to play on. I personally have only found one server with the settings I enjoy that plays under 250 ping.

This could also be attributed to the poor hit detection constantly being talked about when two individuals are getting 250+ ping, of course it is going to seem like the game has bad hit detection.

It is ridiculous that a UK server even though I am in the US is completely unplayable for me due to high ping. This is the first game I have ever played that I have to completely avoid server not in the US due to unplayable high pings.

Now many of you are going to say it is the server providers problem, or the server hosts problem - no, it is TWIs problem no matter how you cut it. If they are allowing a RANKED server to be hosted, it is their responsibility to make sure it is going to be playable and the ping it displays in the server browser is accurate to the ping you will actually get in game. This can not be hard to do, considering this is the first game I have every played with this sort of problem.

I hope this problem is sorted out soon, as I would love to play in the mornings when only UK servers are full....

got the same problem so feel ur pain. i can usually only find 1-2 servers with a desent ping. but i saw yesterday that TW was doing a test server on the ping issue so it sounds like they are workin on it.

I find that RO2 is a better game with 40 or less players. Much less lag, much less "hit detection" problems, and there are more room for flanking maneuvers which makes the firefights more dynamic and fun.

if i wanted to play with a max of 32 players i would play CoD or somthing, how can a small server like that be "fun".

same for me.
I live in italy and i can play with 50-60 ping only in italy servers.
In other servers like german, french, uk the server browser sign 60-70-80 ping but in game i get 120-140 :(

I believe the ping lies. I seem to hit within the second at the very least, with over 100 and even up to 200 listed on the sk

I noticed this the other day. The in game browser reports pings to be quite low but once I enter the game it shoots up to twice the reported ping time. There doesn't appear to be any visible warping or elastic banding so I'm not sure what to believe. I play predominantly on UK servers and expected better ping times to be honest.

48 players up, the game seems to lag alot more than it should. It has to do either with the game itself, or with servers hosting more slots than they should, but this problem needs to be adressed as sometimes the lag makes the game unplayable.

Also, I find it frequent to be playing with a ping of 120, and suddenly see everyone's ping, and my own, rise up to 300 for a few seconds.

Which is my point. IMO 64 players is the way to play this game, it crams each map with 32 vs 32 and you get so much more of that - " **** I forgot to check my flank". It makes you think more.

But the 64 slot servers simply lag. I would like to hear an official response from TWI on either, why the game lags on 64 slot servers, or why they allow server hosts to host servers with more slots than their server can handle.

I'm guessing you haven't played many games then.

I only get high pings when the server I'm on is too far away, or can't handle the number of players. I have 5 or 6 favourite servers and my ping is always as expected and stable on them.

I ALWAYS play on 64p servers and very rarely experience any kind of lag, even servers with 150-200 ping

Never had a problem playing on UK servers playing TF2, BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF 2, BF 2142, BFBC2, BF 3, Crysis, Crysis 2, Far Cry 2, RO1, URT 3. And thats just the FPS.

Once again, with the settings I play, I have yet to find a server that my ping stays under 100.

Are you jacked straight into a backbone or something, because what you're describing is unrealistic for commercial internet service providers. Normally with a high end commercial connection you should expect at the very least 100ms between the east coast and the UK assuming both ends have solid hardware and connectivity.

Within Sweden I enjoy nothing worse than 20ms, most of Europe and western Russia between 50-80ms. The Americas are about 120-200ms, most of Asia and Australia between 200-400ms. I wouldn't even hazard to guess any part of Africa. I'd take these numbers and add 0-70ms worth of lag due to occasionally sluggish RO2 server performance to get a fair estimate what playing RO2 will be like.

If you read and understood my original post, I said it is unbelievable that UK servers are UNPLAYABLE by someone in the US. Sure, in other games I would expect a higher ping, but not one that caused me to be able to not compete well with others.

In other game, I would expect 120-150 ping in a UK server, 50-75 on a US east coast server, and 75-120 on a US west coast server.

In RO2 as I have stated before, I have yet to find a server that I can sustain less than 100 ping. I have found only 1 that my ping stays under 200 on average, but it has times where everyone will shoot into the 300-400 range.
