Yeah same here. However if I use my second version of Killing Floor, which still runs with the old patch, it works...

Jack, can you verify cache for me please? Or delete system folder and verify cache and try again?

I've got the same problem. I've verified the game cache, nothing seemed wrong. Currently reinstalling the game. I'll see if it fixes afterwards.

Yoshiro, even I'VE tried that, and it still didn't work. I've even tried completely erasing all Steam data from my computer and reinstalling the program and the game, and yet the problem still continues.

My brother and I have been tinkering, and I've discovered the following regarding the Perks issue (at least for us):

1) The Perks continue to level even when not displayed. You do not receive the benefits of the Perk, however.

2) Perks work fine when a Mutator is not active. We have tested this with Bloat-ed, Clot Buster, and on Hosted Listen Servers and Solo games.

3) Turning a Mutator on re-disables the Perks until it is removed. Trying to hit the Select Perk button in the lobby gives the error, "Unknown Steam Error has Prevented Access to This".

I hope this helps.

Got the same problem. When I attempt to play either solo or mulitplayer my perks show up as blank and I cannot access them with the message "Unknown steam error prevented access to this". I've deleted local content and reinstalled kf with verifying my game cache but still nothing :(

I still get the issue even when I don't use mutators, so technically that doesn't resolve the issue at all, but it DOES shed some light on the fact that it has some slight differences for some people. I just hope this gets fixed soon, I want to host with the hellfire mutator again >.<

For everyone having this issue, please delete your KillingFloor.ini and User.ini(out of /Steam/SteamApps/common/killingfloor/system) then reopen the game and click on the Perks and Achievements button directly. Is it still giving you this error?

If it's not giving you the error, the reason you can no longer get Perks is that we finally dewhitelisted the specimen only mutators. These now block any and all access to Perks, so if your wanting to use/increase your Perks, I'd make sure never to use those mutators. If you do use them, you will have to make sure you disable them when you're done, or else they may be loaded in the background when you load the game(thus blocking access to Perks until you restart the game).

in my opinion this is still broken. if you want to prevent leveling of perks when a mutator is used than good for you. you fixed an exploit and i dont mind, but even on a blacklisted mutator you should be able to select and use perks at their current level even if you arent gaining any experiance. you need to change the perk system so that we can use the perks without advancing them on mutators just like you did with sandbox mode. the current situation is unacceptable as perks are the only thing that allows you to survive some of those games. read only perk mode shouldn't be that hard to set up for mutators as you already do it for sandbox mode. see below

here's what disabling perks in mutators did to the game

Heres how perks should look with mutators turned on ((note the red circle)). if you do it like this you wont piss people off because they cant use thier perks, and at the same time they wont be able to level said perks when mutators are on

Unfortunately it is entirely impossible to securely allow mutators to only read Perks and not allow them to be hacked. If we allowed anything other than the Whitelist to read Perks, they'd also be able to hack Perks due to the way Steam handles things. We're sorry for the inconvenience of this, but it's truly out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding, as we'd love to do things as you suggest, but it's not possible to do this securely.

cant you just take the perks off steam and run them from your own servers. if steam is so insecure when it comes to achievements and perks than why dont you use your own servers and just upload the data to steam. i also had several ideas on how to securley allow perks to work on mutators but they may require some reprograming.

the first idea was a cached value from the steam server. if no connection to the steam perk system is available the perk info is read from a cache file that is updated each time the game is launched and when the perk is leveled (the file would use simple encryption and hash checks to prevent tampering) and if someone does alters the cach file perks wont work at all untill the file is deleted and they reconnect to the steam server.

the second idea would be to allow the server to set default perk levels. when the mutated server is hosted the owner will have the option to assign a static level to each perk and anyone who joins the server will use those numbers instead of their own perks.

the third idea would be to use normal read only perks but send game settings to the vac servers. if a perk advances or gains too many points while certain flagged settings are active vac will detect and ban the perk hack. i would add in some lineancy in the detection incase a bug causes the game to send the wrong data innocently

even if these ideas arent feasable i am sure tripwire can come up with some way to secure perks the only thing standing in the way is wether or not they want to take the time to recode whatever part of the game they need to to make it work
