If a noob starts playing what order would you suggest they level their perks?

I'm gonna say:
SS first - Get to at least perk 2. It gives you some good round 1 survivability and teaches you good headshot habits. Come back and finish later.

Commando 2nd - Get to perk 5 so you get a starting weapon before moving on to others.

Support 3rd. By this point your welding points should already be up from playing other perks. Support will improve your hipshot and by now you should have some idea of how to be helpful to the team.

Zerker 4th. It will further improve situational awareness and teach you how to work *with* zerkers when you're playing a different class.

Firebug 5th. A strong perk but with serious limitations. You should be experienced enough by now to overcome those limitations.

Demo 6th. I put this late because now you have played all the other classes and know what a bad demo does to the team. You have also witnessed enough other demos to learn some pipe placement tricks (like say for instance don't drop all 8 before the wave even begins :p )

Medic last - If you're playing right you'll get to at least perk 3-5 just from healing while playing other perks. 5-6 is gonna take an eon but it's the last thing you'll need to finish.

Max sharpie first. The player will always spawn with a powerful perked weapon, the 9mm, and they will learn to headshoot. Add in that sharpie is a cash machine, so after a couple waves of refilling xbow+9mm they can afford any weapon when they switch to another perk. That speeds up every other perk progress.

The order of the rest of the perks don't really matter.

IMO, the sharpie teaches players bad habits. Take the one-shot FP kill with the xbow and the M14 spam.

The first two perks I played were Support then Commando, maxing them to level 5 (as it was back in those days). I levelled Sharpie by using the 9mm in wave 1 of every game. Multitasking ftw.

Still, it's a good idea to get that 9mm damage buff in the first wave, so spawning as sharpie isn't such a bad idea.

Since KF falls into the Zombie game genre, shooting the head was the first thing I did. You don't really need to "learn" headshot habits, especially how the game's loading screens tell you that aiming for the head is a good idea.

12 minutes?

OT, I think I lvled Support first, along with Sharpy. I rarely used the Xbow, because the LAR is a classic and much more fun to use.

I started on Medic, and levelled all my other perks up to at least level 3 or 4 just by playing medic... and I levelled up Sharpshooter while maybe playing as a sharpshooter for perhaps less than 3 hours total game time :)

Naturally... Medic was level 5, 6 and maxed first :)

i fell in love with support and i think i had that at 4 before i touched another perk. support was the first to 5, if im correct i think it was commando to follow, then maybe either sharp or med after. but still sharp all the time when beginning isnt fun. ex. i started new account, thought to myself ok i will level ss first so i can get good guns. i got it to level 2, which is very easy and said screw this i dont wanna play this perk only till its leveled. :p

so i just say play whatever perk u like best and get that leveled then work on others.

This ^

Such a silly discussion really.

I went with support spec simply because it had SHOTGUNS pasted all over it.

And I love shotguns very, very much. Every game I played, even when I was very little and new to games, it had to be a pump-action weapon of sorts.

Although I didn't do it in this order, but for newbies (not just necessarily 'noobs') this is actually a good order :)

Gets a Thumbs up from HalfDemon.

Honestly i'd say play whatever you feel like playing with.

I'd advice them to check the forums and read the stickies on KF basics and etiquette. Which i know most won't do.

In that case, rather than suggesting which perk to lvl up 1st and what not, advice on weapon use and perk basics would be more helpful.
By perk basics i mean using perk weapons since they get bonus damage etc, how to use certain weapons, such as the alt fire from a hunting shotgun or xbow to bigger specs head etc. would be more helpful.

It all comes down to experience, no matter what perk u decide to play with, your judgement as a player all comes down to how much experience you have.

There's less fun in grinding a perk than enjoying it, so i wouldn't recommend a lineup.

SS levels automatically if you have any tendency for headshots. So does medic, if you keep healing teammates dispite the perk.

That means you should start with any of the other perks, preferably commando because its the easiest to play with but also hardest to level up. Support could be next. Demo, firebug and berserker are a bit harder perks to play with so they should be leveled last after youve gained some experience. Tho, I find zerker the easiest personally.

Bloody Commando. I blame it for all the CS and CoD fanboys playing this and suggesting their horrible weapons 9001 times a day.

Yeah, support was my first love as well:D

Of course, I went in a crzy order.

Support (for a long, long time)
Medic, until lvl4
Demo (for a very long time)
Firebug until lvl3
Zerker until lvl3
Medic (to be continued)

never did sharpie, as I got it automatically from 9mm

And machine guns were never my style, although I plan to try them in the near future

Somewhere Over The Rainbow...
Commando is NOT hard to level. You get the damage, then clean up any stalkers you have left on kf-survival. It's just as easy as support since you can just go afk for hours welding a door and get door points, sure they're technically "exploits" but they still get the job done since those are the parts of leveling the perks nobody really wants to do anyways. or at least i didn't.

As for what order you play your perks: Do what you like. There is no order in which you "should" level your perks. Leveling sharpie first is actually the worst thing you could do considering you can level it as any other perk. Play it on wave one, then switch to another perk. You'll probably be 6 before you know it without even playing the perk.

As a person who has all 6 perks, except zerker(which will be 6 soon), just play what you like. You'll get there eventually.

I'd say whatever class strike your fancy but if I had to give tips I'd say:

Lvl sharpy in the first 1-3 waves(if normal or beginner), first 1-2 waves(hard or suicidal). The extra 9mm damage will give you a lot of cash and if you need a big weapon you can just buy a LaR or find one.
Then lvl up whatever class you want(save for Medic cause you can lvl Medic with anyclass easily) till the game/Patty is dead.

So you should end up:
Maxing Sharpy first or getting it to 5 pretty fast.
Maxing (insert perk you used after you used Sharpy for those 1-3 waves) or getting it to 5 pretty fast.
Medic should be maxed last or it might be maxed first. It's easy to lvl so you can lvl it as anyclass.
