can't wait to play!

napalm strikes!

I just hope that allies get zippo lighters to burn down villages and the Viet Cong have suicide bombers that can strap satchel charges on themselves and go running into the allies' Command Bunker (aka Platoon).

Sounds are indeed placeholder. The twitchy movement is an old engine issue that we're aware of and are still working on. It does exist in RO2/RS, but it's more noticeable in recorded demos, which are how we captured game footage.
good to hear.:)

Hey AMG guys, could we expect some NEW EPIC voice overs for both US Army/USMC and Vietnamese just maybe like in Bad Company 2 Vietnam?
I didnt like too much voices in vanilla RS, as they were like some kind of relaxed and even if soldiers were screaming, it doesnt really felt like a scream, maybe it depended on an actor or on quality of sound, but anyway I expect huge work in that direction.

^^ More "desperate" sounding rather than "heroic" would be welcome for voice actors.

The american RS voice actor sounds like a spectator at a sporting event. Compare this with the some of the German voice actors in English who gasp for breath and heave as if they are tired, exhausted, and scared when speaking. This is a warzone. Let the voice actors reflect their weariness, sadness, and sullenness.

Tell your actors to sprint around the block several times then record. :D

------------

One final note: Something about the player models in RS compared to RO2 never seemed quite right to me. The uniforms in RS seem too smooth and lack natural variation in shading.

Taking a look at this RS screenshot:
Spoiler!

Compared with:

Spoiler!

^^note this isn't just uniforms but the human skin as well; look at the hands
------

EDIT: To make it REALLY obvious. Look at the german uniforms in this screenshot vs the Japanese and American ones

Spoiler!

If you look at the RO2 screenshot, uniforms, even new ones, have much more wrinkles and creases putting more darker patches on the character model. RS1 and RS2's models look a bit too bright without as many creases and wrinkles. It results in the uniform appearing to have just a single shade of color and thus seem out of place compared to the rest of the environment. While the uniforms themselves are produced with a single dye, when worn, many shades are visible due to lighting. It would be a good idea to revisit the bump maps for all models and objects to add more darker areas from folds and creases.

I mention this because I think its your biggest problem right now in terms of visuals and graphics. Its holding you back the most.

I hope others can see and acknowledge what I'm talking about from those pictures.

-----

Edit #2: The guns in RS and RS2 also seem to have this "too smooth" thing as well but its not as bad. Something about the bump maps between RS and RO2 models seems a bit different. Revisiting the bump maps for a lot of things would go a long way to making the game look MUCH better.

Here is an example with the weapons I mentioned in the previous post.

Compare:

RO2:
Spoiler!

RS
Spoiler!

From the RS2 trailer, the same smoothness is found in RS weapons rather than the more detailed RO2 weapons. Once again it seems like the detail of the bump maps on the models is the culprit. What needs to change is that weapons, even new ones, get bleached from uneven sunlight exposure and also change color from being touched even with clean hands. A few tiny scratch marks even on fully leveled weapons would be welcome just as in RO2.

To best illustrate what I'm trying to describe, think of salt on a car but less extreme as shown below. The svt screenshot I linked above previously has a bit of that blemish.

Spoiler!

Definitely, models in RS looking like a new airsoft uniform, not a dirty, smeared one. We need thoose all models to look like soldiers have gone throw the really tough battles and no, I dont want this suggested uniform to be available by Heroes only or smth like that, just add some real customisation like in Unreal Tournament series and let players look however they see fit.

And still, we have no confirmation will the choppers be drivable or at least....for infantry landing.

My guess there will be no drivable vehicles. Helicopters will be commander AI controlled asset. Maximum CoD-style player controlled M-60 in Huey ar Cobra gunner.

The trailer looked pretty good. I hope that the animations are just placeholders, because it's all the same animations from RS1, and they are pretty outdated as well as clunky. With some new, smoother animations it will look and feel a lot nicer.

Environments look nice enough imo.

Some things i noticed:
1, I agree with what was said about the player models/skins.
2, Grease gun rate of fire (while not high) is still looking too high to me, but i might be wrong.
3, The M16 sights are strange compared to the Grease gun (or the other way around, i know there are multiple ways of how the aperture sights are displayed, but it looks a bit inconsistent as it is). Again, i might be wrong.

You want to say that all video was filmed using a demorec?
Does this mean that RS2 demos will allow to have a first-person view with a weapon?

We intend for it to, yes.

Regarding dirt and wear on characters, it still exists, but currently it progresses as your honour level goes up and since nothing like that is being tracked in dev right now, it didn't really cross our minds when the trailer was being recorded. We'll make sure that in future media you get to see a broader cross-section of the dirt and wear, rather than a bunch of guys in freshly laundered uniforms. :p
