Wow is it really totally lacking humor? I think the dark humor paired with the british accent was one of the coolest things in KF1. We're still laughing about sentences like "I TOLD YOU! I'm welding this door!" :D:D
I didn't recognize any funny sentences :rolleyes:
Also FP and Scrake seem to be a little too easy to beat? Gore level decreased?
Besides that it's looking amazing, so looking forward to EA.

I liked everything except the running animation and that the gun fire sound lacks the "ooomph" or the "boom" if you wish. I was expecting something like in the "HEAT" :D

Besides, it looked easy up until the last wave. What diff was this on? I suppose it was on normal and it felt easy because of everybody being lvl 25.

Anyway, it looks like a GREAT game! I am REALLY GLAD that the wacky **** is gone and the tone is serious. You can really see how grim everything looks now. Again, great work!

- EX: Bloat bile shoots through even though the door is sealed

- We can disable that, right?
[] I can't quite tell, but it doesn't seem like the bullet-skull contact sound is in.
- I quite liked that sound. Hopefully it is or will be a thing.
[] The pain sound for whoever the Berserker character is was really annoying.
- It's too long, for one.
[] I noticed a "Taunt Zeds" option, but no "Taunt Players" option.
- I really hope that'll be coming back. It's hilarious, for when another player ****s up.
[] The bullets move a bit slow for, you know, bullets.
- It's especially noticeable during Zed Time. At ~9:30 when the Commando goes to shoot the Siren it seemed to be able to move out of the way of the bullets more readily than I'd have though. I don't know a ton about guns but is it something like the bullets being sub-sonic?

On normal difficult seems more tricky, that's cool.

The trader will spawn randomly in the map?

There will be some remastering of old maps? (BioLabs, Farm, etc)

If the point of the Early Access is to give feedback, we might as well have them get the common stuff out of the way so that once it's in our hands it'll be more down to the nitty-gritty.

Hmm, that Katana swishiness is quite audible. It sounds like it's going through air rather than meat. Needs some SPLURCH.

I wonder how the hitboxes are in the new game. Looks like they had trouble getting consistent headshots.

So does this mean we're super close to EA or is it gonna be a few months yet?

My boldest quess would be during the next week, since they said in the interview that it's going to be released in the near future and since Yoshiro was being shady about the new boss just like in the gameplay footage that TWI had asked PCGamer to black out.

But as always it's a matter of speculation so it might take even till the end of April, but I doubt we have to wait till May (although it too is possible :c).

[Feedback]

Visuals
Oh boy the game looks amazing! Zeds are way more intimidating than in KF. That moment at 08:23 when this huge pile of Zeds pushes in the door really shows how far the game has come.
The combination of the new textures, animations and espeically the Zed's sound effects is really impressive and a massive improvement over what KF has to offer.

Map design
It's only one map but it looks like they stick to the latest KF map's design philosophy and one-entrance-camping spots are gone for good. Good job!

Weapon sounds
I'm not sure whether they have been done properly at the time of this video or perhaps I am just the wrong person to appreciate them but weapon fire sounds awful.

  • There are no (noticable) impact sounds unless the player is really close. Especially the headshot crack is gone which was not only satisfying to hear but also very important for aim feedback.
  • Explosion sound is not impressive with one exception: That explosive melee weapon really hits home.
  • Reload soundeffects are fine but took a step into the background when compared to KF.
  • Autofire sounds like a toy clattering it's loose parts somewhere in the distance. This makes all the shown commando weapons feel very weak when actually they just tear through any kind of Zed with mostly uncontrolled bodyshots in the video. I don't want to dramatise, but as someone who loves to wreck stuff with dual handcannons in KF or got used to the old SCAR sounds this one is a real deal-breaker.
  • Voice commands and character chatter will fortunately be in KF2 but they miss the charm of KF. I didn't notice any more in-your-face-pal accents and the hostility is appears to be gone. Apparently our characters form a role-model team now...

Sprint animation
It's just... ugh. Why!? D:
Bad acting action heroes have stopped leaping/running away from explosions like this years ago so why did you have to bring it back for the trader rush? Add some slow motion at least and last player on the trader forcefully suicides or something else to justify the drama. ...Speaking of which:

Trader

Am I the only one who thinks it looks a little too SciFi? The shop, the interface, the trader path they all look decent in their own right but do they really fit the aesthetics of KF?

Visually stunning, and I'm impressed by a lot of things, mainly the fact that when you shoot the head... IT ACTUALLY REGISTERS NOW. :D

Looked absolutely solid loved it. My feedback would be (keeping to the similar format above):

Visuals

Absoloutely fantastic, loved the look of all of it. Both ZEDs and characters look fantastic as well as the animations of all of them. Couldn't find fault here.

I don't understand everyone's gripe with the sprint animation? Yes its a little OTT but that is what KF is all about, and even then its not that OTT (only thing i would say is tone down the arm movement for double handed weapons such as the shotgun).

Map Design
Loved the look and feel of the map. A very solid design that really does look like it forces you to keep moving. (No more Biotics Lab style spawn camping yay!!)

With the trading pods I am guessing that they are meant to have been dropping in from the air. If so I think it could look really awesome of they had a bit more of "this has landed here with a thud" about them in the sense of the environment around them. So for instance if they are indoors perhaps a nice torn hole in the roof where it punched through the building.

Sound

Breaking it down a little more here:

Charecters/Zed sounds

ZEDS:

Loved the ZED sound effects, all of them were very distinctive and I also really liked the announcing roar of a fleshpound arriving on the scene, sent quite a chill down my spine and was distinctive enough that i knew exactly what it was before i saw it.

Only gripe like has been mentioned before is i do miss that head popping crack from a distance, there is something incredibly satisfying about it in the first game.

Characters:

Overall really awesome, loved the comments they came out with however were a couple of minor gripes.

The old-man whining sound playing every time one of the characters got hit started to get a quite irritating after a few times, I would say this sound needs changing/removing.

Gun Sounds

A few modifications needed here. They are on the right track but as far as the assault rifles go they really lack any umph and thump about them. The AK was by far my favourite (loving that burst fire option btw) but I really want to feel powerful.

Out of the 4 rifles the SCAR was the one that lacked the most thump. Being one of the heaviest rifles in the game (so far that we know of) it was far too soft. I really missed that commanding thump it has in KF1.
