Err is there any way of forcing an actor or a brush to paste itself in the exact same position as the original which you copied?

Because it annoys the hell out of me how it always appears in a random position close by rather than in the position where you copied it from, mostly when I copy paste something its for example lights or other things which I only need to move in one direction, so having to reassmeble them on all axises (x-y-z) is a pain..

In case someone didnt understand that, imagine X's below are lights. First I have this:

I copy paste them and it looks like this

-----X X X

Ignore the hypen (cant post empty spaces there...)
This is how I want them to be:

So in order to get that result I have to move the lights first on x axis, then on z axis and at last on the y axis to relocate them next to each other... If they would paste themselves on top of the originals, all Id have to do is move them on the y-axis to line them up correctly next to each other.

Note that using "Paste to original location" doesnt work. I dont know if it even does anything differently.

Shift + D in the TOP view will only throw you off a unit x + y, making it super fast to align without having to switch viewports.

Duplicating actors places them one grid-space removed from the original on the x and y axis. The z axis stays the same so if you just push the duplicates into place in the top-view it should all be fine. EDIT: Like JD said.

Other than that, just using ctrl+c and ctrl+v should paste them in the original location since ctrl+c includes the location info. E.g. you can paste actors into WordPad, change something there and then paste them back into UnrealEd.

I use CTRL shortcuts all the time but it has the same result as using mouse.

Guess theres no actualy option in the editor to define where copied items are pasted then?

I'll try that shift+d next time.
