Level Design Optional objectives

I have a plan (half-assed, as yet) for a map, but I was wondering what people thought of this idea.

Its a defense map, Russians attacking. Like MoscowHighway, one of the objectives needs to be blown up, so they have satchels. Off to one side is an ammo dump.

I was thinking of making the dump a secondary objective. If the Russians blow it, the Germans are forced to spawn a bit further back, making attacking easier. But it doesn't have to be done to win.

Is if feasable? Or even a good idea?
 
Aksay had an alternate objective IIRC, some hedgehogs that could be destroyed but didn't need to be, and they opened up the way for tanks to get through.
Could be an interesting idea as it adds another dynamic to the gameplay if it's possible to do. (Not sure if the Aksay objective was required or not, but I'm not sure it was)
