Is your computer bombarded by gamma ray?,after reading all the dev posts and a lot of thread with people with normal frame rate i think its the common cause of low fps.

Its the only theory that make sense, try to cover your PC with an magnetic shield and see if it help.

...Seriously i have the same issue,im just waiting for some dev to actually admit there is a problem with optimization on high-end computers instead on blaming it on map optimization.

How many cores is the amd 955?

Did you try the optimizations in my thread?

AMD 955
Radeon 6850
4 gigs of RAM

High settings, shadows off, and a few other tweaks. I never go below 30 FPS, normally stay around 40-50. Computer is less than a week old.

my set-up is similar; video card is gtx 470

Are your video card drivers up to date
Is something running in the background that would consume your RAM or CPU usage? I.E. Run task manager and make sure everything is looking trim, then run the game with task manager in the background and alt-tab back to see how things look then

Have you tried experimenting with the PhysX configurations in the control panel and also tried enabling or disabling hardware physics support in the game? It could be the PhysX support in the game is bugged

This is the trick.

Setting things to high (but DOF off and maybe detail medium) seems to put some load onto the graphics card rather than everything on the CPU. Turning ambient occlusion on gives me a great increase in smoothness, I get better performance with shadows high than off, and performance is poor with textures less than high.

The game only using about 30% of each of my gpus on ultra, about 10% on low and 50-60% of my cpu
I have all background processes turned off, my anti virus turned off, steam overlay turned off. turning on/off hardware physics does nothing for me (Iv tried the latest drivers and the beta ones)

DOF seems to actually HURT my performance. I'll have to play around with it some more, but I've normally left it on.

That's the issue, the game is more CPU heavy. You should also disable crossfire.
