Alright I know there's an OFP thread up there but I figure this will garner more attention...

First assorted screenies from various places:

Everything points to those screenshots being in-game... (not surprising it's based on the same engine as DiRt which is a beautiful game)

If you still haven't seen the teaser trailer (released a while back) check it out:

And a preview to assuage your worries that it's going to be an unrealistic CoD knockoff:

I'm pretty psyched. It'd be nice if I could get this and RO2 (please :D) at around the same time

I only hope they dont mess up one of the world's greatest games ever.
I hate seeing franchises in foreign hands.

if operation flashpoint 2 was made by the same guys that made the first one, then it would be ArmA with another name, and I dont know what you, but I think ArmA is a failure

I just hope this OP:FP 2 runs better than ArmA

Yeah I thought ArmA was a huge disappointment.

BIS' real sequel to OFP is the untitled "Game2" still in development.

I'm glad BIS now has some real competition in the form of Codemaster's OFP2, especially since CM seems committed to making an ultra-realistic shooter worthy of the OFP name. Don't forget, OFP sold VERY well in Europe (not so well in the USA) with well over a million copies. It's filling a rather large "niche" market that's totally untapped.

I agree ArmA singleplayer sucks balls, and it has some problems.
I havent noticed any bugs though, something wich many people have complained about, but perhaps im just lucky.
In co-op ArmA is pure ownage though, and mind you, this was what ArmA was made for actually.
They focussed more on multiplayer and meant ArmA to be a gapfiller between OFP and Game2, wich now turns out to be ArmA2.
Multiplayer ArmA does very well in my personal opinion. I just wished they had dropped Deathmatch.

Personally, i cant wait for ArmA2. They have worked on it for as long as they did on ArmA1, so it's longer in production now. Seeing the 1.09 beta patch allready improving combat AI and performance, and seeing a AI combat movie of ArmA2 allready wich had them make use of cover and leaning systems, and knowing their focus is again on singleplayer makes me very hopefull.
Knowing what ArmA was meant to be, doesnt take away from the dissapointment from the singleplayer part though, but it does make it easier for me to accept, knowing they meant to focus on MP.

Now, i know you guys hate me for bringing this up again but look what happened to Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six when other developers took over.
Those were my favourite series, along with OFP, and i can see the same happening again. This makes me very reluctant to accept Codemaster's game in any way untill it has proven itself to me, and these screens dont sell it to me.

lol - Ultra realistic shooter similar to OFP on all consoles. Puh - lease!

Lets try and remember (as pointed out) the realistic franchises that've hit the consoles. Or that realistic shooters dont pull in the money like a good action blast fest with superorgasmajizztron graphics. And that Codemasters lately to me have come accross as money whores.

And with regards to whether they're real screenies or not, the DiRT engine is good looking, but from what I gather it's a very static engine. And like most other racing games won't lend itself to a first person shooter. At least not as easily as it'll lend itself to a 3rd person action game.

There were always 2 roads that Codemasters could take with Ofp2,
The high road involves showing Bohemia up by making a better game than Ofp without them.
OR
Cash in on the name, meanwhile drumming up some anticipation in a very similar manner to that Killzone 2 video from E3.

"It uses ingame technology"...

Rendering those sort of graphics (especially the particle effects and depth of field) on a home PC, I doubt it.

I'm really looking forward to the game and I hope they simplify it a bit(squad control, easier controls, less float-feeling). I don't want them to make the game less realistic(though I'd like being able to choose how realistic I want it) but just modernize the gameplay mechanics. ArmA looks 2007ish but imo feels 2001ish. I really liked OFP but I don't want to play old games with better graphics.
