Opening the stock game editor in VISTA?

I was trying to open the RO editor on my PC this morning. Windows does not recognize the application. I have Windows VISTA. When I click on the editor icon VISTA tells me it can't open the file, and it wants me to select a program to open the editor with. Please see attached.



Anyone else have similar problems? Is there a way to open the editor on a system using Vista -- or is Vista unrelated to my problem?

You're trying to open the wrong file.

1- Try launching the RO SDK by the STEAM control panel.. see if that work.
2- try launching "ROEd.exe"

Also I think there is an UnrealED.exe in the system folder just to what Drax suggests.

I can asure you Vista is not the problem here the editor works flawlessly with Vista (I know what I am talking about)

Thnx much. I was going off of the instructions in the SDK pdf manual. It just says click on the editor in the systems folder (pg6). I clicked on every file with editor in the name. No luck.

For posterity in case there is another numbskull like myself that encounters the same problem, the SDK Manual probably should say the editor needs to be installed first I presumed it was automatically installed when you install the game. Silly me.

Install the editor via clicking on TOOLS in the Steam Window Client. Than install the editor. Than -- as Drax says -- open the editor from the Steam window client casue it doesn't open from any of the editor files in systems folder.
