open beta for people that dont own deluxe

I know that me personally have convinced 3 people that have never played RO1 to give RO2 a try. So I am doing my part.

That only tracks active and peak daily players though.. so really it'll only tell how the peak of DDE players there are at any given moment.. and RO is truly an international franchise so it'll be interesting to see where the derived 'sales' number guesses put that :]

Agreed. I think 20,000 DDE preorders would be very good number, if it's even that high, but I do hope fairness' sake (IMO) that the number of "free" beta invitees is only a fraction of those who paid for the DDE in order to obtain early access.

When the beta is released will it be too late to pre-order the deluxe edition? and or get into the beta?

I want there to be lots of DDE preorders so there's more people in beta, but I also don't want there to be too many so I can maybe trade my TF2 hats for more

Yea i have convinced 2 of my brothers to buy RO2 and all 3 of us have not even touched the first ro we are hoping this is gonna be an epic awesome game.

I had heard that the "prize give away" keys to sites was annonced around a month before the notion of a DDE version of the game, thus after they specified the concept of the DDE and that owners of that version would have exclusive acces, the free give aways were made redundant. (purely speculation)
Read on steam, the DDE grants access to the final phase of the CLOSED beta, meaning there will never be an "open" beta, as the customers who have payed get access to the CLOSED beta up to launch, i think its not fair to make people pay for exclusive access and then just allow everyone else in later, its like "what am i even paying for if everyone just gets it anyways" (realisticly i personally dont care enough about an extra week of gaming over others, but i dont think its fair to paying customers, if your paying for exclusivity then thats what you should get)
Besides, the 5-7 extra dollars/pounds is soooooo insignificant, if you have enough money to have access to a (capable) computer and the internet, then you have enough money for the DDE, i dont have a job, but i still made the money to buy it, so not having a job is no excuse.
(yes admiting i dont have a job makes me seem like im a bum)

Just to confirm, yes we should have some keys to give away at Voodoo Extreme. Here's my suggestions if you want the best chance of snagging one right when they become available-

Closed = invite only. Anyone who buys DDE is invited. Anyone who gets a limited supply of giveaway keys are invited.
Open = No Keys / No Preorder needed, or unlimited giveaway keys.

The VE giveaway was something that was lined up with TWI months ago, way before the DDE opportunity was even announced. DDE folks are still getting first dibs at the beta, and the DDE is still the only way to assure yourself a spot. Our keys will be very limited, and will only go out the final week week before launch.
