BF 1942 singleplayer was just multiplayer maps with bots. When Tripwire speaks about a single player campaign for both sides, then I think about something like CoD. Making scripts isn't that difficult for them. Otherwise they wouldn't have spoken about a campaign, but it would be the simple training mode we already know from RO: Ostfront.

I read that if it wasn't for the sheer amount of manpower that the Romanians provided on the Eastern Front, the Germans wouldn't have even made it to Stalingrad due too much ground being covered with too few troops. The battle of Stalingrad's fate itself was finally decided outside of the city rather than in it due to the encirclement of the city established by the Soviets through operation Uranus.

Having those units as they were there in the Battle of Stalingrad would be nice to have directly on release. Why u ask me ?
Cuz, for me DH is a very nice mod as MN and CC are. The problem is that these mods separated players between RO Original and its mods. So i think it could be a good idea to have these units directly released with the game or via an update, maybe what u meant ?
NOT like as an independant MOD as u understand what i mean. It would be great to had this diversity AND keeping all players playing the SAME GAME

Miro has a good point here in the fact that the presentation and gameplay of these independent mods are excellent, but a lot of them after release for some reason lacked activity. Perhaps some aspiring mod teams could collaborate with the developers after a certain stage and keep new additional content in the game, so it's appreciated and not wasted.

that is the best case senario. if the DH, MN and CC teams could just work with TW to release official "expansion pack"-like updates for RO not only will the content receive more play, but also add more players to the game of RO instead of taking players away from one front and putting them into a different one.

something else that this could lead to is the mod-updates costing a small fee because it is official TW content, which in turn, earns money for TW to continue work on their games and providing us with all the smaller free content updates they give us.

The Romanians contributed something like 500,000 men to the war effort--and 10+ divisions (if I recall, I'm doing this off the top of my head) to the Stalingrad area. Seems rather significant to me.

I agree with Kipper. The Romanian involvement was important. Both the German and Russian records mention them.

Hello there. I would also really like to see new countries included into the eastern front campaign. The Romanians, Italians and maybe even croatians...but I think the Hungarians would be the best addition to the game. Every time i play red orchestra I run into at least 2-3 fellow hungarians on each server and i bet they would appreciate it too. Im not really smart with world war 2 history as much as most of you guys are but i believe in Operation Barbarossa there was 4 hungarian brigades fighting along side the axis forces. please do correct me if im wrong. It is a small contribution but it still should count along side the others. So yeah it would be nice to see additions.

Good luck out there.

MoH Airborne has the UE3 also, yeah?
Wouldn't be too difficult for some modders to extract the Italian models and the Italian voices. Could be used easily I guess. :)

there's the problem of scale and obscurity. i don't think a lot of people have that game. and the character models for that game look bigger than life, literally. whereas heroes of stalingrad characters have a more realistic proportion.

also, we don't know what kind of encoding system ea has put on their files. they're not known to be very modder friendly

I have a feeling that some of the minor countries will not be portrayed in the next game at all. It seems like more of the realism is going into the guns. But who knows, maybe we'll be surprised.

Would be a shame if that's the case. they really need some other things to differentiate themself from previous ww2 fps. The realistic theme might need something else considering they'll nerf it somewhat to make it more user friendly

who said they'll nerf it?
all they said was that the game will have 2 realism modes, one beeing for the more casuals and the normal RO like mode :)

Going back to the topic of other countries included I don't think it would be too hard to implement the Croatians into the game. They were a mixed unit of germans and croatians the only differentiation was their helmets which had croatian coat of arms and their jackets which had the arm patches. When the german unit pulled out they had to hold the tractor factory in Stalingrad for a long time and after that they ran out of supplies. Eventually they used stolen russian weapons acquired from night raids. Most of their division died.

Also just as an addition they were the 369th vrazja divizija and were APPARENTLY a volunteer force.

But from first hand accounts from my father and grand father they were forced from their homes to go fight for the german allies and they were randomly picked. In particular the northern croats where my mothers side is from.

Although some things i've read have said that they were with the protection of Croatia for quite a while before training in germany and marching to Stalingrad to help out.

lol i'm just throwing out random stuff i heard would take some research..

As far as i'm aware the default option will be the slightly nerfed option. Even cod 4 has a "hardcore" mode. But I digress, lets not go off topic on this.

cool stuff

The 369th were highly reguarded by the Germans too for their bravery. Not many survived the war / captivity something like 99% losses.

They'd be easy enough to make because as said they used German weapons and uniforms, they'd still need voice actors though.

great ww2 croatian reference photoes / movies if tripwire needs them:
