One free weekend every two or three months?

Sigh. Once again ignoring the "long term" and assuming that every single player that stays is and will remain a noob. I'll just leave you to your complaining since you are obviously not capable of having a proper argument.
If a 14 year old prick who loves to grief buys KF because he tried it and likes it during the free weekend, what makes you think he's going to stop griefing eventually?
I don't really care if the free weekend attracts noobs. But just plain dumb people and griefers can stay out of my fav game thank you very much.
Whenever someone asks you how to do something only to forget within the next round and asks you again, that is an example of a gaming retard. They don't ever learn, and they never will. They belong in the dumbed down games they came from.

Again you are assuming that everyone that will buy the game because of the free weekend will some dumbass or whatever. There will be good new players that buy the game and this is what makes it all worth it in the end. There are idiots in every game anyway so I am not sure where you are getting at.
KF has an amazingly low idiot count compared to other games. I am working to keep it that way. Just because all games have idiots doesn't mean you should just be okay with it.
Sure there were a lot of respectable people who also bought KF from the free weekend, but it still didn't outweigh the amount of idiots who were playing.
I'm sure you know exactly how many idiots were playing. You might as well pull stats out of your ***.
you could join ANY server and find a ton of idiots on it. have you not read any of the posts in the forum during the free weekend? nobody was able to enjoy the game because it was filled with noobs and griefers. i'm not the only one here who knows this.
you're asking for stats? where the hell would i get stats of that kind of thing. im not choosing to be ignorrant by not supplying statistics, the statistics are nowhere to be retrieved. the fact is is that this free weekend has crippled kf and now that its over i can finally play.

Meh. To be fair, there were quite a bit of legit players who actually bought the game and actually TRIED to learn. Most of 'em were playing with Level 1s and 2s on Hard and Suicidal, so it didn't work out well, but they're learning.
I have an army of Level 2-3 minions who worship my Level 6 Sharpshooter-ness and will follow orders to the letter, in fact, because after a bit, they realized that doing what I said tended to keep them alive.
And when I got them to hop OFF of a Hard server and onto a normal one, they were shocked to see that they WEREN'T wiping out on Wave 3 and were in fact getting to the Patriarch more often than not!
I didn't run into any true idiots while playing the whole weekend. That isn't to say that there weren't any but I personally didn't run into any. Your experience was different, but at least I guess we can conclude that not every single new player was an idiot. In the end the better players(those who are the most likely to buy the game) should stay, which is good for the game. Now I wouldn't want a free weekend every week, but I think every few months along with an update is a good way to strengthen the community. The cost is just a rough weekend.. Not a big deal imo.
I would be fine with a free weekend with every update. But not every 2 months or so.
Hey, I got an arguement for you: Of COURSE the new players wouldn't stay noob. But you are talking about forcing the veterans to deal with fresh waves of noobs EVERY. TWO. MONTHS. That pattern will continue, because noobs don't HAVE Patriarchs, it's just a bunch of freaking clots that die in the first wave.
I agree that there should be a free weekend with very couple of updates, just not every two damn months...
The concern about games becoming rather problematic is a legit one, as during the free weekend I lost count of how many times I saw someone going into hurr durr, dying in an instant against a mob they couldn't handle and then say how it's "ur noobs fault help me" to the point I probably did my 723th thin ice pirouette.
Another interesting thing is that high majority of (if we're to use random servers during free weekend as an example) players are either unwilling to listen or otherwise ignorant, often resulting into the generic "I know everything noobs, ffs help me"- like syndrome. I recall someone explaining that 'the tank' (aka flesh pound) is best to deal by setting him on fire and running away and everyone else took it as the truth, and were deaf when I simply said don't do it. After that they were complaining how come I didn't warn them, which was amusing as hell
Yes, I did run into somewhat reasonable players twice, they had legit questions, didn't go hurr durr scarkemode all the time, were sticking around, healing whenever needed etc and they did actually listen aswell. But considering how many hours and servers I played during the free weekend, two times when the group was 'reasonable' to play with is rather poor ratio.
I am not against free weekends in general but there ought to be reasonable timeslot between one and another. There is also a fairly good reason why some servers were passworded. Want to play a 'reasonable' game on suicidal? Pretty difficult during free weekend. Want to play on FF server without causing an admin an headache by having to ban 400 griefers a day? You need that password for a reason.
