To bring the zerker perk back, they should get rid of the nerf and raise the prices for all the weapons.

Machete-$150
Axe-$400
Chainsaw-$1,000
Katana-$2,000

This would balance out the perk even though it's using the stats it had before the update. Also some people might finally start using the machete..

Not really since the katana used to be just as strong as the chainsaw, only the playstyle differed.
And noone uses the machete, ax all the way.

This would satisfy me. It needs it's full damage, full attack speed, and autoswing capability back to justify the price increase.

IMO, I always thought it was too cheap and favored a price increase instead of a nerf. Instead they did the opposite... And it blows.

Yeah.
The Katana should be a lvl. 3 weapon, like the AA12 or M14.

For now berzerk is fine. I have played 3 lvl and 4 lvl now berzerk w/ katana/chainsaw on hard and its ok. I'm sure 5-6 lvl berzerk @ suicide is fine too. The berzerk problem is, he needs another weapon. I was thinking about throwing knifes/axes, so he can be good against crawlers, sirens and husk. Low/medium range, fast "reload", low/medium attack damage and 15-35 ammo capacity (depends on lvl).

My own personal hell
The only thing increasing the price would do is make the weapon even more of a perk specific weapon. The way the game is currently going it you won't be able to buy a weapon unless you are that perk but it's easy to get if you are a high perk level in that area(medic MP7?). Money is not limiting enough, particularly for berserker. He can go the first few levels with a knife and whatever he scavenges (or a chainsaw if level 5 or 6). In pub servers the high prices encourage kill steals or rambo-ing in the hope that you get a lot of kills for yourself and can buy your overpowered rage weapon.

The more I look at it, I think the Katana nerf was more so that other classes are no longer melee gods with it than to cripple the Berserker. Unfortunately, it did both...

Are we playing the same game? As far as I can tell, the Katana still works perfectly fine. The katana still chews through any mobs(except FP) and the way it was before was lame. I certainly hope they don't "fix" the Katana, as it does not need one.

Katana can be left alone.

Chainsaw brang back to the way it was and have the price increased.

We don't need the melee perk to be completely nerfed so that only skilled players of lvl 6 status can achieve any kills.

It's already bad enough that I constantly have demolition and sharpshooters walking in front of me to steal all the money and kills.
