Ok, I am seriously worried.

I'm planning to get RO when it comes on retail shelves, but i am extremely worried that, because i live in Australia, there will not be enough or none at all servers that have low ping as they are in my area. I don't want to waste my money on something that i realise i can not play. I have been tracking this game for a while now, and it just simple looks so unique to all the other WWII FPS out there, but i am extremely worried that there won't be any aussies out there playing the game. :(

ya but i heard that there wern't many servers on Monday this week, and even though there were servers on the mod, i'm still worried that there won't be any, and if there are, they won't be there for that long

Ok they might not accept you in but you could ask them about public servers, they must either have one running or know of plenty

Do you have games magazines in Australia? If so, give them a ring or send a mail to get some promotion going.

Maybe, if a moderator or dev sees this post, Tripwire can set up some promotion with a Ausie magazine.

yeah we have PC PowerPlay and Hyper magazine. It would be great if Tripwire did a promotion to one of them. Yeah I might e-mail PCPP and just give them the link to the official site. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Naaaah, CoR has a freaking 10-y/o ([CoR]Onion) in the Clan. :p

(OK, fine, he's 15, but I think he joined when he was 14.)

If you're intelligent and you're not a douschebag, nobody on the Internet can tell how old you are. :D

Currently there are quite a few Australian servers. Telstra Gamearena has two servers, Internode has some just for starters. I am in Sydney and using Optusnet cable and in the RO server browser I find at least 10 servers with ping under 100 and there is always one half full and one full with 32/32.

I'm friends with the guy who's doing the Hyper review of Ostfront. Expect to see a 1000 word review in an upcoming issue. Also, there'll be a review in Atomic, and possibly PCA.

There's about 8 Aussie servers and 2 or 3 NZ servers. There were about 4 full ones at release, but last couple of days have seen one full server (usually Node #1) and a full Kiwi server. There's likely to be at least ONE populated server for a while now and possibly there'll be more players over the weekend. If all else fails, you can always play on Yank servers. I played the mod for 2 years on them and while 250 ping isn't great, you get used to it. With a bit of practice you generally end up being a far better player than those on low pings (outmanouvering, outscoring, outplaying).

imo a lot of servers are empty coz people dont like playing on empty servers lol, its a catch 22...one that can only be solved with bot unfortunately...i find it gets the job done and gets the server busy, coz lets face it its boring not having anything to shoot at!

In the mod I hardly ever had more than 4 servers with playing people on (with a reasonable ping - I live in germany), but that was never a problem, because you didn't need to change servers often. There were hardly any jerks around and there was even teamplay on most servers. I guess thats simply because of the "nature" of the game, it appeals more to "mature" playes :>

So even if you only got a couple of servers in your area, that should be fine!

seeing that GA invested 2 servers into RO is a good sign because it means some people WILL play. i know about 5 people that want to get a game in australia personally so theres bound to be more. although they are mainly from the vcod and cod:uo community, same as myself. i'll get the game, just need to know one thing, is it out in NZ yet? if its out now ill leave uni and go get it! hehe
and dont expect me to spray and pray, i know cod players do that but ive always played for survival in cod, even though the game doesnt cater for a realistic tactical player.
