Let me count the ways !

1) You've created a brilliant sequel to Red Orchestra, one that only builds upon the original and takes nothing away. A game rich in quality, ambition, and concept !

2) you're providing continual support for your game for the months to come, fixing bugs and adding additional content. the game can only get better than it already is !

3) you're supporting a whole mod team in their development of a potential expansion pack, giving another talented group of developers the same chance you had with the make something unreal contest.

4) you released RO2 worldwide on one day, everyone got to play it at the same time. that's quite a feat !

5) you sold your wonderful game below the average MSRP for modern games, giving an additional discount for the fans / players of the original.

Congrats on what I think is a great release !

1) I think you're forgetting about all of the realism features that they chose to eliminate.

2) It will be nice to have the additional armored vehicles that they intend to add to the game, but I think the game will only really move into its potential "glory days" after extensive additions/modifications by third parties.

4) They only released it on the correct day for those of us living in Tripwire time. Quite a few of my European friends were unable to play the game on the day of its release due to it being pushed back six hours.

Just curious, what are you refering?

The two that most immediately come to mind for me (And trust me in saying that there are quite a few others) are:

1: The inability to attach/detach bayonets. I don't think anything is binded to 6 for the rifles. It would have been the ideal function for them. I don't know if you played the original Red Orchestra game, but in that game your aim wasn't quite as good if you chose to keep your bayonet on. Thus players generally only attached them when assaulting a position, or on CQB maps. That bayonets are permanently attached in this game (Upon unlocking them) suggests to me that they have no affect on the players aim.

2: The inability, for tank crews, to enter/exit their vehicles.

Things of this nature may seem extremely minor to the casual player, but for us (Realism players) they played an appreciable part in creating an immersive environment.

Edit: The poster above me mentions another good one.

I do give LOT of credit to Tripwire for what OP stated. Not many companies do that, so it's REALLY REALLY REALLY nice to see.

BUT let's not forget about the cons/the bad....there is PLENTY and some.

Yeah!! it was SO fun to bail outta tank at the last second and run around Arad/Black Day July with my tiny pistol! Being totally useless my your team!! YAY!!!

I don't think anybody would have a problem with being unable to exit the tank on 100% tank maps, but on combined arms maps it can lead to some entertaining scenarios. Additionally, The scenario that you've alluded to may be an issue at times in public play, but not in realism matches. If your reading comprehension skills were marginally better you may have noticed that I said it was an issue that concerned realism groups.

But why should Tripwire do anything to please realism units? It isn't like realism units played a substantial role in keeping the game active for the last couple of years. I guess we'll just have to accept that we'll never be as highly regarded as those players that purchase the game, play it for a week, and then return to Call of Duty.

They added lockdowns (Which basically took away the long stalement battles with two teams fighting to survive as their reinforcements are near 0%, hiding in mortar holes as they take cover from machine gun fire (which was much more intimidating with tracers on every bullet, realistic or not. Much better "suppression".)

They added Kill Cams (Thankfully it can be turned off, but its hard enough to find a good reality server let alone one that Also turns off the stupid kill cam)

As far as I can tell they removed that point after death where you can look at your body (It was interesting to see the different ways you can die, atleast imo. The dismemberment / gore is much more noticeable that way, and dying isn't as much of a pain when death is a bit more interesting). I'm not sure about this one, I think I saw my body once or twice but I figured that was a glitch.

It takes significantly longer to respawn, or it feels like it does if isn't actually longer. Plus, no automatic respawn

Chat isn't color coded for team (russians chat = red, germans = green)

Its 10 times harder to actually deploy MGs now, and it seems like the only options that are available make you into a ridiculously easy target.

I'd post more things that I dislike that are fine in the original but I'm gonna hold off till I play some more.
