I really wish people would play on these. It seems like such a HUGE waste that there are TONS of servers with default settings, no stupid server messages spamming and they have awesome performance.

But know one is ever on them. Why would a clan pay hundreds of dollars for a server when they could just claim one of these empty ones as there own??

Because we enjoy our own settings and have administration control over them.

As for the "stupid server messages spamming"... well, I guess we pay for that priviledge too.

I personally pick the server with the best ping. The vanilla tripwire servers are never amongst those for me.

Plus fewer people play this game each day. Including the weekends.

Yeah I always pick a server with good ping and has players. I would love to play on these, if it meets the above criteria. Oh and I try not to play on semperfi server when that annoying admin dude is online. I really never met such a rude admin before, and he's an older gentleman.

Isn't the bulk of TWI's servers using vanilla settings? I'd rather play without killcams and handguns for every class. Plus I get high pings on them.

There is a good mix of Realism and Relaxed realism servers.
The Killcam in this game is ultra minimal and more entertaining than useful.

The reason they are never full is because knowone ever joins them. Know one ever joins them, because they are never full. It is a catch 22.
I'm saying this because I'm sick of joining the servers with people on them just to find out the server admins have overtaxed it.
On the rare occasion that people ARE playing on a TW server, I have always had a great time. The servers are just higher quality performance wise than most other servers.

Hopefully they will fill up after the game is fully optimised and TW has its first free weekend and huge sale. (thats when Killing FLoor picked up) :)

I agree that the TWI servers run well, but I disagree that the kill cam is minimal. On another non-kill am server for Red October Factory, I got a ton of kills by setting up in a spot between an objective the Russians took and our defended spot next in line. With a kill cam, they would have quickly figured out what was happening without having to be situationally alert. I bet they assumed that they were being shot from the objective and they didn't notice WHERE the sound came from or see the muzzle flashes.

Now your just talking out of your hat. There are quite a few servers with specs identical to TW's running. While I do agree that a few of the more popular ones are pushing their hardware limits and inspite of the enjoyable teamwork on the servers, the server performance kills the experience for me. There are however many occupied and unoccupied servers that are quite capable.

We've reduced our 64 man down to 52 to give the server a breather and to also give our players with lessor machines a break. Even though pings on a full server of 64 would >100 some clients had performance issues with their machines and network connections. We've been happy thus far.

It is a POSITIVE thing that you cant just camp a goofy "magic spot" and get 20 kills. I've done it too. I've gotten 25 kills from the same bush in Grain Elevator. A kill cam would make short work of that and that would NEVER happen in real-life. When snipers take 1 or 2 shots, they relocate or they die. The kill cam can sometimes encourage more fresh skill-based gameplay.
And compaired to every other Kill-cam from every game EVER it is minimal. It just shows the direction the shot came from. More than anything, it gives you something interesting to look at. It's nice to see the person that killed you. It also discourages exploits. This is a new game with plenty of exploits after all.

Reducing the man count to 52 is ok, but it hurts the class selection because the server still uses the 64 person class selection.
Why not just play on the more than capable 64 person TW server near you?

The Tripwire servers were packed constantly the first week or so. Agreed that they have good performance, certainly better than most 64-player servers, but I eventually left for servers that have killcam and map voting off. With how broken the map voting UI is, having it on just means you play the same 2 or 3 maps over and over because of an inability to vote for anything else. TWI was almost 24/7 Spartanovka.

Because our server is IDENTICAL to TW's, and we are running only ONE instance of the game on it and it is geographically closer. Thank you very much for your concern. However, be advised that all 64 player servers will suffer occasional performance issues on some maps when fully loaded and have tanks and arty going at the same time. Whether its an "official TW" brand server or some other Intel Xeon E3-1270 (Sandy Bridge 3.4ghz) node with 4 total processor cores and 16 gigabytes of RAM in a different box at a different location. Its the same hardware on a similar backbone.

I'm not knocking TW putting up "official' servers (ours ranks just like theirs and every other ranked server does), I just have problems with uninformed individuals ranting about things of which they know nothing about.

And perhaps you did not see or understand the part about where some of our players with lessor hardware and networks have trouble with 64 players and have a more enjoyable experience with slightly fewer players. ;)

Never had killcam in RO1. Soon enough (if you play using cover) you'll learn where the lanes of fire are that can kill you at any given time. (If I'm here I can only be shot from there. If you die, you communicate with your teammates and remove the threat.) Or as irl on the battlefield, you communicate with your teammates to find an eliminate the threat. Its part of what makes the game intense and what makes teamwork so valuable and rewarding.

I don't really understand the class selection issue. I use bolts almost exclusively whether I'm playing 8v8 or 32v32. Though I don't particularly care for the large numbers of semi-auto or automatic weapons in the game, they don't seem to have any bearing on the game for me. If I utilize the role of the weapon I'm playing with correctly, I always do quite well. Especially when the squad works as a unit.

**edit**
Oh yeah, forgot the most important thing. When some dweeb comes into the server ruining the game for everyone, one of our admins has the ability to remove the chump so everyone can continue with their good time. Can't do that on "someone else's" server.......
