Number of players per server?

Done a few searches and couldn't find a topic on this.

Any word on how many players HOS will support on each server?
RO tends to default to 50, but I heard the maps were made with 32 players in mind, 50 seems to work though.

Would be nice to see 80 or more players on big maps, they normally feel pretty empty.
Pretty sure UE3 can handle that.

I think default amount of players in RO was 32.

I think the standard maximum client-server is 64 for UE3.

RO was 32 max, it was updated to 50 but many of the maps were not really well suited to being so crowded.

64 is more than enough.

That's 32 people per team, enough to stuff a Battlefield-sized map.

Would be nice though if there were servers that had the "big" 64 player maps and servers that had the small 32 player maps. Or anything in between too.

In BF2 theres 64 players and the maps are still very spacious.

RO2 should have 32 players, I think thats fair cause in games with larger amounts of slots there are usually a mass amount of vehicles and all that nice stuff. 32 players is enough to have a massive rifle battle, while still having snipers, machine gunners, and support tanks in use.

But, since there is no info on map size or player slot amount available, we'll just have to wait and see ;)

I think TWI will try to match the existing limit of 50 in RO for Heroes.

UE3 is a mighty engine and getting it to support beyond 32 will be a huge task in itself but TWI have a great deal of experience with Unreal Engines and I believe they'll squeeze everything they can out of UE3 to supply the maximum gaming experience for everyone to enjoy with Heroes..:D

It might a huge task, and maybe one they won't want to tackle (at least not at first anyway) and the cost of running a server that can cope with 50 players (inc. tanks) might be prohibitive as well, although todays hardware should handle it, the amount of bandwidth req. is another factor,that could push the prices up.

I'm really hoping for 64 players. This is the PC... take advantage of it. Console version... I couldn't give less of a ****.

I too love big and crowded maps, but on the other hand, I wold prefer smaller and more detailed (aka danzig) with more time spent on polishing them and making them feel closer to reality.
