Reasons for kissen en goodbye
theres nothing more annoying then
1: thinking a server has 30 people in it, joining it and finding 6 people and 24 bots,
2: having one of those morons get in your tank and get you killed asap,
3: getting shot in the head by a bot from 200 feet with a pistol from the hipped position....
4:bots also ruin good infantry combat, sure they are included to help a server fill up, BUT, when im defending the garage by myself and 3 bots charge in they 1: know where i am 2: wont miss 3:but are so dumb a child is smarter in tactics...; so in short if i engage them in the open im dead, if engage them from cover mabie il survive..



Edit: this post was edited from a rant to something that made a bit more sense, and for those that were voting no just to spite me, thats really stupid, you should be voting on your opinion of bots in servers, not just because sombody got po'ed by some dumb bots...

Just for arguements sake there is a server filter option that filters out any servers that have bots.

Bots are just there to fill the servers up - people join which ever server looks nearly full generally - give them a choice between one with 15 players or one with 30 and they join the one with 30 - even if most of the 30 are bots. After a while the bots dissapear as real players come in and take their place. If you don't like them then use the filter and you never have to play on a server with bots again - but you will have much few servers to choose from - often a server can be nearly full and have only 1 or 2 bots on.

If you hate bots so much - either filter them out or look at the server info before joining - only the real player names will show up

Also - I think you can set the server to remove the bots once a certain number of real people have joined - so after say 25 real players are on they dissapear - so just wait and they will go eventually

Colt how are admins supposed to get a server going without the bots to fill it out, unless your clan is quite large bots are usually the only way to get the server full.

It's easy to see how many bots are there before you join. Look at the player list....it only lists real players. So if the server says 32players are playing then you look at the roster and only 5 names show, the rest (27) are bots. It's very easy to distinguish before you join.

filters aside, many of the good servers such as rtr or nano use bots to sustain atleast 20 people being in a server. on infantry maps nobody gives a crap because bots die easy and cant hurt their teamates. on tank maps its still fun to play a 7 on 7 , but 3 bots per team means alot of getting out of your tank because a bot just got in, and if a bot gets in your tank when your in the middle of south field... yer skrewed.

so yeah, sure bots have some uses, but they are dumb as **** in tanks and need to be atleast turned down on tank map servers....

Your server doesn't even exist to me if you run bots on it. Just FYI.

In other words, if you want the greatest player of all time to play on your server turn off bots.

Yes, of course I am only interested in joining servers that are already populated. Unless it's a server that I am directly involved in (Iron Crescendo's server being an example for RO) I have no interest to join and play bots and wait for new players. You make it sound like it's a bad thing.

Making a popular server takes work. You aren't going to be able to activate the bots and magically fill it up with players every night. You have to be an active admin. You have to join your server when no one is there. You have to get a bunch of friends to join the server when no one is there. You have to organize nights and times when your friends play there. You have to keep the map list updated. You should have a website for your server. You should try and build a community around your server.

I'll join a new server I've never heard of with < 10 players. If I ping well and enjoy playing there I'll add it to my favorites. If you are in my favorites then I'll be a regular and the more regulars you get the more consistently the server will be full.

That's how you make a popular server. Not by adding dumb bots.

Or... you can yell: "Get Out!" Via the voice chat. The Bot gets out and Bob's your uncle...

If there are 10 people in a game with a maximum of 30, and there are 20 bots, I don't join. Turn the bots off. No one is being fooled by them being on, and they only make gameplay turn into absolute ****.

the bots r retarded and irritating. full stop. and i check for real people before i join a server, this bot thing hasn't fooled me for months. it just makes server browsing a little bit more of a mini game [maybe we can get a mutator or edit my .ini to filter them?lol]

I've been fooled a couple times, but as soon as I get in I leave, I imagine a LOT of people do that, so I don't really see how having bots would help THAT much, sure it helps a little, but not really.
