I swear "Normal" has increased in difficulty since the "Heavy Metal" pack.

About 2 days ago, me and a friend were playing Manor - Normal - Long, and weren't struggling with enemies up until around Wave 7. Eventually we got killed off during Wave 9, but that was our fault because we didn't give ourselves enough room to escape the spam of enemies heading our way.

We played the same map/settings today, and we didn't get past Wave 4. Now, obviously we could have been having a bad game, but I swear that the number of enemies had increased per wave. The first round started with 40+ enemies, and this was with 2 people. I seem to recall that before the patch the game started, with the previously mentioned settings, around 20-30 enemies.

Has anyone else experienced this increase in difficulty on Normal? What was also strange was, in a seperate game with 3 people, we had 80 enemies by Wave 6, and I noticed during Wave 9 we had 80 enemies. I thought it increased per wave?

The settings were definately Normal - Long, I have no doubt about that.

Also, on a completely different subject, why does the "Clots only" mutator have other enemies featuring in later waves? I was about to the end the game during Wave 5 when I saw crawlers and stalkers approach. Carried on playing and saw FP's, then bloats, then scrakes in Waves 6, 7 and 8 respectively. I wasn't trying to get achievements or perk level up's, I was just trying out the mutators, hence why I intended to quit at Wave 5.

Kinda noticed my fps dropping since the new updates I don't know why my gear is good to run KF max settings but the updates just don't make sense, I mean you can tell the levels are harder now and the zombies aswell.

As far as normal getting harder, I don't think so. I haven't had any trouble on normal. I even went katana only on foundry and still had no issues really, although I had a close call once because 3 sirens landed beside me once. Beyond the patriarch, and me trying to katana him, I don't think I have died recently on normal, or experienced anything that would make me think it is harder.

The clots/bloats....etc mutators only work for the first few waves, because achievements still work. So you could put it on suicidal, put on clots only, and coast right into the patriarch with little to no issue.

One night, a few days before the patch, I was playing on Normal Manor/Long.
Everything was going as usual up until wave 7. When wave 7 started, you know, you expect an fp or maybe 2 in the beginning, but OMG it turned out to be like Poundamonium!!! Caught all 6 of us off guard and unprepared! We died so fast! LOL! That was so weird. I had never experienced that before, and I have been playing non stop for a few months now...

Well I know on Hard that there are a LOT more enemies than usual. I've seen upwards of 300 enemies per wave! And on Hard, even an extra 10 enemies is nothing to sneeze at!

Also, I don't know for certain if it's true but it seems like on Hard that there are MORE ZEDS IN THE LEVEL AT THE SAME TIME THAN BEFORE! As if they increased the maximum specimens limit...

It also seems to spawn a LOT more Skrakes and, well, a more varied assortment of enemies anyway. I've seen a DOZEN Clots spawn at once from one spawn and five Skrakes spawn from one nearby at the SAME TIME. Yeah, clots aren't much, but they screen fire from other more dangerous enemies when they're in that sort of number! Stuff like that really makes even normal harder when you don't know how to react to it...

Yeah I've been wondering about the difficulty myself too, I think I see fleshpounds more regularly now and more often in pairs. I also noticed a drop in my fps despite not having changed any settings, actually I think I've ran the game on the highest settings since it came out and the fps drop is very noticeable.

if normal is hard hard is suicidal? I agree by the way on hard i have begone to see teams wiped out in wave 3 (maybe there discount people but they seemed to have high levels that suggest otherwise anyway i don't care) i played on the foundry earlier and i was doing quite well with my trust ak beating some clots and gorefast and i round the corner to rejoin my team (a convenient drop in FPS made me go another direction and get lost...) and as i round the corner not one not two but three sirens were there they all screamed at the same time form less than a meter away and i died wave 4 mind you playing on hard before the patch by about a week i had never seen that many sirens in that close of a group untill maybe the later wave 6 or 7... we all died needles to say

It seems the system that chooses the spawning of zeds has either gotten clever, or simply decided to stop spawning as many clots.

Playing on hard, we had six sirens, two or three scrakes, a fleshpound with a decent compliment of crawlers and gorefeasts spawn all in waves. It was insane. Just siren after siren after scrake, after FP...

I like it. Like I said, I'm almost sure they upped the number of simultaneous enemies, mixed up the spawns, AND beefed up the total number of enemies per wave!

A major contrubitor to elevated difficulty is confused Commandos, Sharpshooters and Supports with Katanas, and Berserkers and Medics that can't hit sh*t with AK47s.

I really wish they limit Specials/Tier 2 weapons to revelant Perks.

yea i think i once saw a support specailist trying to be a commando e.g. doing my job of taking out the trash with a katana (zerker), mean while we had a a bunch of us trying to deal with Sckrakes with bullpups and stuff being very ineffective, i am not against seeing other people with special weapons just give them a week or two and people will begin to see where they are effective and usefull and when they think that they are being effective but really they just wasted 1000 dollars that some one else on the team could have use to buy a gun that works well with their perk

Yeah, that's definitely another problem. Folks are using the new weapons because they can, not because the team needs them or even because they're effective in that situation at all!

Just give it a week or two. The shinyness of the new weapons will wear off and people will stop using them unless they're somewhat good at using them.

Sometmes if i am in the mood and some1 purchased/found a katana and it really isn't necessary for what we are doing i will try and convince them to yell Banzai! and charge into a group of zombies they typical survive for a little while until there armor runs out and the are grab by clots so they can't run way and the gorefast kills them then i walk over pick up the katana and give it to them the next round. they will sometimes end up sealing it having got the message "The katana is not the end all be all, and you died b/c you thought it was i don't need it now do you?"

I've recently begun simply using weapons that I find most fun to use rather than picking the one most appropriate for the situation. It is a game after all. :D

i am fine with someone carrying both when one gets assistance from the perk what annoys me is seeing support or sharpshooter with out a shotgun or a crossbow and then using say the katana to lvl when we could use that to be more effective against sckrakes before they get a chance to hurt us
