Using a standard Plantronics headset connected to the headset/microphone ports on the case causes the game to crash everytime on map load, with no exceptions.

Removal of the headset causes the game to load normally. Could this be linked to the same problem as the corsair headset bug?

This is highly unlikely to be the case. Do you crash with any other games? What is your soundcard/onboard unit? Here in the testing room alone we have 3 types of usb headsets (including the Corsair HS1) and 3 normal headphone/mic combos and we aren't seeing this issue.

I dont crash with other games, everything runs smooth.

I think it may be a conflict with the realtek drivers somewhere, as when i dont have anything plugged in, it also crashes. Its an onboard realtek soundcard, that has worked for practically every game ive ever installed and been fine.

Only by having my standard sound setup with non headset allows the game to launch, tested this multiple times.

It is a weird bug. After causing it to crash by putting in he headset, afterwards it continued to crash until i reran the setup in the RO2beta steam folder.

It also seems fine if i plug in the headset after a map has loaded.

Im going to try again and report back with it plugged in - it might have been some missing component that got screwed up during install.

I use a non-usb Headset too, but it works perfect.
Maybe it's a problem with your sound card.
I think in one game, there was a vista bug like that, when you have your headset on. Do you use Vista?

No, Windows xp 32 bit. It works fine if plugge din after the game starts. Otherwise crashes on map load. Weird as all hell. WIll try switching servers to confirm this is the case.

I can confirm once this bug has been triggered, i need to reinstall the redistributable package after unplugging the headset. Game will then launch launch fine with or without my amplifier (usual sound speaker i use, since im lazy). HEadset can be plugged back in during normal play fine, switch maps fine, but dies if i return to browser with it inserted.

I've seen the game cause issues with alt-tabing, and it having to GPU Driver recovery (restarting a service) because of the alt-tab (not the gpus' stability); this might be the reason why your USB is messing your game up.

USB with self-contained audio codecs, when unplugging it causes the game to enable onboard codec which is causing your game to crash (most likely); i've seen this with videos, movies and rarely games that switching audio services from one sound source to another can cause weird abnormalities sometimes.

-Try updating your chipset /north bridge // south bridge drivers (USB/Audio)
-See if your USB headset manufacturer has specific drivers for the headset; or the codecs inside it.
