I posted that because you are overreacting. And I don't really know what you are trying argue about either. Your argument is that there's only 2 of them made. Well that's more then 0 so they should be in the game, because the game is about 'heroes' and 'rarities' and I consider a tank-destroyer that got 22 kills over a short period are pretty hero tank and rare as well. If you are still of opinion that this game is total realism you bought the wrong game.

If the KV-1 is to enter the game, then the Germans will need the Tiger. The Soviets could then get the KV-2 as-well, but honestly adding the Tiger will make sure that the Soviets are going to lose A LOT more tanks than the Germans on any tank map, which is fine historically speaking - but dang, I'm not sure a whole lot of people find it entertaining being nothing but gunfodder.

Only one problem with that no Tiger ever set foot in Stalingrad and KV-1's was common there. So historically speaking the Germans did have to deal with heavy tanks while at the same time having none of their own.Besides the captured KV's they was using.

Tanks was less effective in city fighting where they could be flanked by infantry so easily.I'm not talking add a KV to every map but realistically speaking the Germans did have to deal with them. And I think it would be cool and realistic if we had one map that had this.Maybe give the Russians one KV-1/2 and give the Germans more P4g's or more engineer's.

Sounding like German only players just wanting a easy go of it.Myself I love realism and would love to see at least one map to where the Germans would actually have to use team tactics to take out a heavy tank.

If the KV-1 enters the game it won't change much. The long 75mm gun was basically just as dangerous to both tanks.

110mm hull front armor, 120mm turret front armor. Only ultra rare tungusten rounds will have a chance at 350m, that if PzIV faces the front at 90*.

Not to mention 75mm side/rear armor it was a tough tank to knock out even when it was disabled it would still fight on.Many times the Germans was forced to use 88mm flak guns to destroy them. Also the Germans was impressed with the French Char-b and if it had been used in mass formations the battle of France would have been a lot different. If it wasn't for the KV's the Tiger would have never been designed and was never produced in the numbers of the KV not even close. The Panther was in response to the T-34 not the Tiger contrary to popular belief.

This KV-1 was abandoned after it ran out of ammo
Spoiler!

Personally, I'd love to see the KV-2 in game (be sure to include that rear MG too). Just think of the satisfaction of sneaking up on one with an engineer and blowing it up. But I do think they should be limited to one or two respawns per map.

I've been looking but I haven't seen any KV-2 listed for the units used in the Stalingrad battles unless you count the lead up battles on the way to the city which is fair I suppose.. Almost everything listed on the tables during the battle proper is T-34, T-60, T-70 and a few KV-1.

Only around 255 KV-2s was ever produced and they didn't use em in the city fighting itself (that I know of) they used them as fire support in the safer parts of the city or on the other side of the volga river. They was far to valuable to be used in the bitter street fighting. They was there tho and by 1942 most was the KV-2a and B models.

"The 62nd Army, commanded by Major-General V. Chuikov, had KV-2s to help in the defense of Stalingrad"http://www.wwiivehicles.com/ussr/tanks-heavy/kv-2.asp

Being slow and cumbersome they was rarely used outside fire support roles. On the few occasions they was employed correctly and in the anti tank role they had devastating results. And in my opinion using the 152mm APHE high velocity(HEAT) rounds was the best tank used in Stalingrad.(that shell weighed 112 pounds)

RO:Ost had KV-2s on some maps but those were community made maps. Perhaps in the future the community will make it for this game too.

ain't that the truth.

Oh so that's what the argument was really about ey? No point continuing with you then right?

For me it would be fun to play the German side if limited spawn Kv-2s was added. With a smoke screen and satchel charge it would be a rewarding kill to say the least. If it was realistically modeled it would be a Beast! of a tank and a must kill target for the Germans. A limited spawn would be a must to keep it from being overpowered.

Looking forward to that, bring on the 88 anti tank guns, and stukas!

not really, although emil is pretty much one of those cases. I'm more commenting on the state of the boards when anybody brings up balance, the fighting tooth and nail to make up a reason why so many MKB's is fine, or the denial by some about the Panzer 4 being bugged, or saying all the maps are fine.

However, you have touched upon the number 1 reason why I think Emil needs not to be in game. Ever. It's just another attempt to stretch history so the Germans can get another advantage. I'm not saying I'd not want a german assault gun but I'd want to see one like a Stug 3 or a Marder III before they put in something that is Blatantly OP. But yes, Calling in tank buster aircraft like the stuka and IL2, plus random spawn AT guns would be a nice addition.

but really? why is it you wanted emil in the first place. I feel like it's coming down to one number 122mm. I know, we all dream of one shotting at 2,000 yards....but sometimes games need to be fair, especially when history is stacked up badly.

I would love to see this beast, but...

BP-540 HEAT projectile was not used during World War II

Yup you are correct my bad but the regular AP shell did the job well.Being a Howitzer at long range its shells coming in at an ark often hit the thin top of tanks. Not to mention HE rounds of that caliber pretty much wrecked anything it hit.It may not have penetrated armor but could break the turret ring tossing it up in the air.

It was so feared by the Germans that Commanders ordered them to be captured at any cost. The tactic was to disable their treads and then just leave them their crew would abandoned them. Then the Germans would capture them and repair them.Like I said only around 255 was ever made but they for sure left their mark in history.

This beast deserves a video ...notice how many was actually captured German KV-2's.
