When i enter the multiplayer browser there are no servers show, if i try to connect to a server from steam, the connection times out. However I can host my own games and people can join.

The error I receive is it is unable to connect the Master Server.

My master server link is

[IpDrv.MasterServerLink]
LANPort=11707
LANServerPort=10707
MasterServerList=(Address="207.135.144.10",Port=28902)
MasterServerList=(Address="207.135.144.11",Port=28902)

I have two copies of the game. The copy on My Vista(x64) seems to work without a problem.

I have opened all ports for my copy on XP, and still cannot see a single server in the browser.

I have also enabled DMZ hosting for my IP address which did not work.

The game itself is not bad, but if you can't play online then it is kind of pointless?

my router even with dmz blocks the master server for me try checking the routers log just to be sure. check firewalls on your comp as well.

There must be something connection wise blocking you up. Thats all i can say here :X

Both computers are hooked up to the same network? How can there be a problem on one and not on the other that has to do with the network. I have NO FIREWALL INSTALLED and WINDOWS FIREWALL IS OFF.

Here is a sticky about ports which are used for hosting, I'm not sure if it's related to your problem but it could be a start for more searching:

You said you didn't have a firewall, I assume that you means you don't have a software or a hardware one. If you have a router, wireless or not or another piece of hardware between you and your model then it may have a firewall or other settings to cause these probs. The servers browser in the game isn't working for me either. I was having connection probs too and couldnt' get into games. Mine was resolved by unchecking the SPI checkbox in my Dlink's firewall settings (Suggested by dlink tech support)

If you are not hosting and as long as you do not have some crazy firewall/router setup which blocks outgoing traffic on certain ports you do not have to open any ports.

Can you see any servers in the steam server browser?

Not sure whats going on here.
I have disabled Dynamic Netspeed and can now connect to some servers.
Full servers are showing players.
Servers with 2 or 3 players are not connecting and then showing full.

Before I disabled dynamic netspeed I was unable to connect to any server.
I've cleaned out my registry between attempts and all that shyte..
The only thing that has seemed to make a difference is disabling the DNSpeed.
Its all about load.
Not hosting.
Good luck...

EDIT : this is one of the only (Steam) games that has not asked me to authorize the connection/firewall access!

Thanks.
